Abstract

A method and system is described for providing a customized media list to a user over a data network. The method comprises providing a personalized data of the user to a computer system, generating a customized media list by the computer system for the user based on the personal data, and providing the customized media list to the user through the computer system where the customized media list represents a customized content and a customized advertising. A system is further disclosed and claimed for providing customized media list to a user over a data network.

Claims

1. A method for delivering customized video media to a user, comprising:

receiving identifying data from the user at a computer system;

correlating said identifying data with personalized data of the user;

generating customized video media according to said personalized data of the user, wherein said customized video media are selected from a plurality of different media options;

transmitting the customized video media to said user for immediate viewing independent of a broadcast schedule.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said customized video media comprises customized content media.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein said customized video media comprises customized advertising media.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein said customized video media comprises customized content media and customized advertising media integrated therewith.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein said personalized data of the user comprises a personal profile, demographics, viewing preferences, or viewing habits, or any combination of two or more thereof.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein said personalized data comprises age of the user, income of the user, location of the user, gender of the user, hobbies of the user, hours of television watched per day by the user, or profession of the user, or any combination of two or more thereof.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein said personalized data comprises information suitable for marketing content or advertising to a user.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein said personalized data comprises personalized data of a target audience.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein said personalized data comprises categories of content.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein said categories of content comprise movies, news, sports, or television shows, or any combination of two or more thereof.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein said personalized data comprises particular shows.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the customized video media comprises customized content media, said customized content media having properties, wherein said properties of the customized content media are linked to the personalized data of the user.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein said properties of the customized content media comprise title, actor, genre, viewing length, or recommended audience, or any combination of two or more thereof.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein the customized video media comprises customized advertising media, said customized advertising media having properties, wherein said properties of the customized advertising media are linked to the personalized data of the user.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein generating customized video media comprises generating customized content media and generating customized advertising media integrated therewith and minimizing the customized advertising media based on an optimal profit to a provider of the customized content media.

16. The method of claim 1, further comprising prompting the user and requesting identification of a user of a receptor, or a member of a particular household or location, the receptor receiving the customized video media.

17. The method of claim 1, further comprising entering the personalized data of the user into the computer system through non visual means.

18. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating a customized media list in accord with the personalized data, the generation of the customized media being in response to the customized media list.

19. The method of claim 1, wherein generating customized video media comprises generating customized content media without generating customized advertising media upon payment of a premium fee by the user.

20. A method for delivering a customized video media list to a user, comprising:

receiving identifying data at a computer system;

correlating said identifying data with personalized data of the user;

generating a list of customized video media, wherein said customized video media are selected from a plurality of media options, according to said personalized data;

sending the customized video media list to the user, wherein the customized video media on the customized video media list is available for immediate viewing, independent of a broadcast schedule.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein said list of video media comprises a list of customized content media.

22. The method of claim 20, wherein said list of video media comprises a list of customized advertising media.

23. The method of claim 20, further comprising prompting the user and requesting identification of a user of a receptor, or a member of a particular household or location, the receptor receiving the customized video media.

24. The method of claim 20, further comprising entering the personalized data of the user into the computer system through non visual means.

25. The method of claim 20, wherein the generating of the customized video media list comprises generating a customized content media list and generating a customized advertising media list and minimizing advertising media listed in the customized advertising media list based on an optimal profit to a provider of the customized content media.

26. The method of claim 20, wherein the generating of the customized video media list comprises generating a customized content media list and generating a customized advertising media list.

27. The method of claim 20, further comprising generating customized content media corresponding to a customized content media list of the customized media list and not generating customized advertising media corresponding to a customized advertising media list of the customized media list upon payment of a premium fee by the user.
