Abstract

A gas discharge lamp (1) with a discharge vessel (2), a first electrode (3) projecting into the discharge vessel (2), and a second electrode (4) projecting into the discharge vessel (2) is described. The first electrode (3) is connected to an electrically conductive first conductor surface (5) surrounding the discharge vessel (2). The second electrode (4) is connected to an electrically conductive second conductor surface (6) surrounding the discharge vessel (2) and arranged such that it overlaps the first conductor surface (5) so as to form a capacitance (C).

Claims

1. A gas discharge lamp (1) with

a discharge vessel (2),

a first electrode (3) projecting into the discharge vessel (2),

a second electrode (4) projecting into the discharge vessel (2),

an electrically conductive first conductor surface (5) connected to the first electrode (3) and at least partly surrounding the discharge vessel (2), and

an electrically conductive second conductor surface (6) connected to the second electrode (4) and at least partly surrounding the discharge vessel (2), which second conductor surface is arranged so as to overlap the first conductor surface (5) at least partly, thus forming a capacitance (C).

2. A gas discharge lamp as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the first electrode (3) and the second electrode (4) extend into the discharge vessel (2) from connection locations (7, 8) arranged at mutually opposed ends of the discharge vessel (2), and

in that the first conductor surface (5) is connected to the first electrode (3) in the connection location (7) of the first electrode (3) and extends in the direction of the connection location (8) of the second electrode (4), and

in that the second conductor surface (6) is connected to the second electrode (4) at the connection location (8) of the second electrode (4) and extends in the direction of the connection location (7) of the first electrode (3) such that it overlaps the first conductor surface (5) at least in an end region remote from the connection location (8) of the second electrode (4).

3. A gas discharge lamp as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the first conductor surface (5) and/or the second conductor surface (6) and/or the total surface formed by the two conductor surfaces (5, 6) screen off the discharge vessel (2) substantially entirely.

4. A gas discharge lamp as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the first conductor surface (5) and/or the second conductor surface (6) is arranged at an outer bulb (10) that envelops the discharge vessel (2).

5. A gas discharge lamp as claimed in claim 4, characterized in that the conductor surfaces (5, 6) are arranged in different layers on or in a wall of the outer bulb (10).

6. A gas discharge lamp as claimed in claim 4, characterized in that the first and/or the second conductor surface (5, 6) comprises a layer of a conductive, translucent material.

7. A gas discharge lamp as claimed in claim 4, characterized in that the first and/or the second conductor surface (5, 6) comprises a grid structure of a conductive material.

A gas discharge lamp as claimed in claim 1, characterized by an inductive element (11) connected to the first electrode (3) and/or an inductive element (12) connected to the second electrode (4), via which the respective electrode (3, 4) is connected to a supply line (13, 14) for the operation of the gas discharge lamp (1).

9. A headlight or luminaire with a gas discharge lamp as claimed in claim 1.

A headlight or a luminaire as claimed in claim 9, characterized by a first connection element for connecting the first electrode of the gas discharge lamp and a second connection element for connecting the second electrode of the gas discharge lamp, and by an inductive element arranged to the outer side of the first connection element and/or the second connection element.
