Abstract

Methods and systems for processing signals are provided and may include removing a DC component from a signal envelope comprising a combined signal within a range of allocated FM channels to generate a modified signal envelope. Fluctuation in power in the signal envelope may be detected based on a ratio of a magnitude of the signal envelope and a magnitude of the modified signal envelope. The removing may further include low-pass filtering the signal envelope to generate a low-pass filtered signal envelope. A square values of the low-pass filtered signal envelope may be determined to generate a squared signal envelope. The squared signal envelope may be high-pass filtered to generate a high-pass filtered signal envelope. The fluctuation in power in the signal envelope may be detected based on a ratio of a magnitude of the high-pass filtered signal envelope and a magnitude of the low-pass filtered signal envelope.

Claims

1. A method for processing signals, the method comprising:

removing a DC component from a signal envelope comprising a combined signal within a range of allocated frequency modulated channels to generate a modified signal envelope; and

detecting fluctuation in power in said signal envelope based on a ratio of a magnitude of said signal envelope and a magnitude of said modified signal envelope.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein said removing further comprises low-pass filtering said signal envelope to generate a low-pass filtered signal envelope.

3. The method according to claim 2, further comprising determining a square value of said low-pass filtered signal envelope to generate a squared signal envelope.

4. The method according to claim 3, further comprising high-pass filtering said squared signal envelope to generate a high-pass filtered signal envelope.

5. The method according to claim 4, further comprising detecting said fluctuation in power in said signal envelope based on a ratio of a magnitude of said high-pass filtered signal envelope and a magnitude of said low-pass filtered signal envelope.

6. The method according to claim 4, further comprising determining a signal strength of said high-pass filtered signal envelope and a signal strength of said squared signal envelope.

7. The method according to claim 6, further comprising detecting said fluctuation in power in said signal envelope based on a ratio of said signal strength of said high-pass filtered signal envelope and said signal strength of said squared signal envelope.

8. The method according to claim 1, further comprising determining whether said signal envelope comprises an interference signal based on said ratio of said magnitude of said signal envelope and said magnitude of said modified signal envelope.

9. The method according to claim 1, further comprising detecting fluctuations in power for a plurality of combined signals within said range of allocated FM channels.

10. The method according to claim 9, further comprising selecting a particular one of said plurality of combined signals based on said detected fluctuations in power.

11. A machine-readable storage having stored thereon, a computer program having at least one code section for processing signals, the at least one code section being executable by a machine for causing the machine to perform steps comprising:

removing a DC component from a signal envelope comprising a combined signal within a range of allocated frequency modulated channels to generate a modified signal envelope; and

detecting fluctuation in power in said signal envelope based on a ratio of a magnitude of said signal envelope and a magnitude of said modified signal envelope.

12. The machine-readable storage according to claim 11, wherein said removing further comprises low-pass filtering said signal envelope to generate a low-pass filtered signal envelope.

13. The machine-readable storage according to claim 12, further comprising code for determining a square value of said low-pass filtered signal envelope to generate a squared signal envelope.

14. The machine-readable storage according to claim 13, further comprising code for high-pass filtering said squared signal envelope to generate a high-pass filtered signal envelope.

15. The machine-readable storage according to claim 14, further comprising code for detecting said fluctuation in power in said signal envelope based on a ratio of a magnitude of said high-pass filtered signal envelope and a magnitude of said low-pass filtered signal envelope.

16. The machine-readable storage according to claim 14, further comprising code for determining a signal strength of said high-pass filtered signal envelope and a signal strength of said squared signal envelope.

17. The machine-readable storage according to claim 16, further comprising code for detecting said fluctuation in power in said signal envelope based on a ratio of said signal strength of said high-pass filtered signal envelope and said signal strength of said squared signal envelope.

18. The machine-readable storage according to claim 11, further comprising code for determining whether said signal envelope comprises an interference signal based on said ratio of said magnitude of said signal envelope and said magnitude of said modified signal envelope.

19. The machine-readable storage according to claim 11, further comprising code for detecting fluctuations in power for a plurality of combined signals within said range of allocated FM channels.

20. The machine-readable storage according to claim 19, further comprising code for selecting a particular one of said plurality of combined signals based on said detected fluctuations in power.

21. A system for processing signals, the system comprising:

a single chip having an integrated Bluetooth®

radio and an integrated frequency modulation (FM) radio comprising;

at least one processor that enables removing of a DC component from a signal envelope comprising a combined signal within a range of allocated frequency modulated channels to generate a modified signal envelope; and

said at least one processor enables detection of fluctuation in power in said signal envelope based on a ratio of a magnitude of said signal envelope and a magnitude of said modified signal envelope.

22. The system according to claim 21, wherein said removing further comprises low-pass filtering said signal envelope to generate a low-pass filtered signal envelope.

23. The system according to claim 22, wherein said at least one processor enables determination of a square value of said low-pass filtered signal envelope to generate a squared signal envelope.

24. The system according to claim 23, wherein said at least one processor enables high-pass filtering of said squared signal envelope to generate a high-pass filtered signal envelope.

25. The system according to claim 24, wherein said at least one processor enables detection of said fluctuation in power in said signal envelope based on a ratio of a magnitude of said high-pass filtered signal envelope and a magnitude of said low-pass filtered signal envelope.

26. The system according to claim 24, wherein said at least one processor enables determination of a signal strength of said high-pass filtered signal envelope and a signal strength of said squared signal envelope.

27. The system according to claim 26, wherein said at least one processor enables detection of said fluctuation in power in said signal envelope based on a ratio of said signal strength of said high-pass filtered signal envelope and said signal strength of said squared signal envelope.

28. The system according to claim 21, wherein said at least one processor enables determination of whether said signal envelope comprises an interference signal based on said ratio of said magnitude of said signal envelope and said magnitude of said modified signal envelope.

29. The system according to claim 21, wherein said at least one processor enables detection of fluctuations in power for a plurality of combined signals within said range of allocated FM channels.

30. The system according to claim 29, wherein said at least one processor enables selection of a particular one of said plurality of combined signals based on said detected fluctuations in power.
