Abstract

A system including a client device communicatively coupled to a first wireless network, wherein the client device has the ability to request a web page from a content server, and an optimization server is configured to receive network data associated with the characteristics of the first wireless network, to provide tuning settings based on the network data, to receive response data from the content server, and to transmit optimized response data to the client device, wherein the response data corresponds to a request for a web page from a client device and the optimized response data corresponds to the response data being altered based on the provided tuning settings.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving network data associated with characteristics of a wireless network to which a client device is connected;

providing tuning settings based on the network data;

receiving response data from a content server, wherein the response data corresponds to a request for a web page from the client device; and

transmitting optimized response data to the client device, wherein the optimized response data corresponds to the response data after being altered based on the provided tuning settings.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving network data includes pulling the network data from a database.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving network data includes receiving pushed network data from a gateway.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving network data includes sampling the characteristics of the wireless network using feedback mechanisms.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the optimized data corresponds to the response data after being altered based on the provided tuning settings and a user'"'"'s preferences.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein providing the tuning settings includes providing a first tuning settings when the network data associated with the characteristics of a first wireless network that the client device is connected to.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein providing the tuning settings includes updating the tuning settings from the first tuning settings to a second tuning settings when the network data associated with the characteristics of a second wireless network that the client device is connected to.

8. A method comprising:

receiving network data associated with characteristics of a wireless network to which a client device is connected;

determining whether the characteristics of the wireless network have changed;

updating tuning settings from a first tuning settings to a second tuning settings based on the determination;

receiving response data from a content server, wherein the response data corresponds to a request for a web page from a client device; and

transmitting optimized response data to the client device, wherein the optimized response data corresponds to the response data being altered based on the second tuning settings.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein receiving network data includes pulling the network data from a database.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein receiving network data includes receiving pushed network data from a gateway or a database.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein receiving network data includes sampling the characteristics of the wireless network using feedback mechanisms.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein the optimized data corresponds to the response data being altered based on the second tuning settings and a user'"'"'s preferences.

13. A system comprising:

a client device communicatively coupled to a first wireless network, wherein the client device has the ability to request a web page from a content server; and

an optimization server is configured to receive network data associated with the characteristics of the first wireless network, to provide tuning settings based on the network data, to receive response data from the content server, and to transmit optimized response data to the client device,

wherein the response data corresponds to the request for the web page from the client device and the optimized response data corresponds to the response data being altered based on the provided tuning settings.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the tuning settings are first tuning settings that correspond to the first wireless network.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the client device moves from the first wireless network to a second wireless network and the optimization server updates the tuning settings from a first tuning settings to a second tuning settings that corresponds to the second wireless network and provides optimized data to the client device based on the second tuning settings.

16. The system of claim 13, wherein the optimization server receives network data by pulling the network data from a database.

17. The system of claim 13, wherein the optimization server receives network data by receiving pushed network data from a gateway or a database.

18. The system of claim 13, wherein the optimization server receives network data by sampling the characteristics of the first wireless network using feedback mechanisms.

19. An apparatus comprising:

a data storage device storing tuning settings; and

a processor configured to process the following steps;

receive network data associated with characteristics of a wireless network to which a client device is connected;

provide a particular tuning setting from the data storage device based on the network data;

receive response data from a content server, wherein the response data corresponds to a request for a web page from the client device; and

transmitting optimized response data to the client device, wherein the optimized response data corresponds to the response data being altered based on the particular tuning setting.
