Abstract

Systems, methods, and a user interface for automatically scheduling a media play is disclosed. The user can specify criteria for play of the media play, including times, stations, and/or external criteria such as a weather condition or the occurrence of an event. Information relevant to the entered criteria is received and assessed against the criteria to determine if the criteria are met. Responsive to the received information meeting the criteria for play of the media play, an accessor accesses the media play inventory and inserts the media play into a media feed.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for automatically scheduling a media play, the method comprising:

receiving, from a user, a criterion and an identification of an action, for media play placement in a media feed;

receiving information relevant to the received criterion; and

responsive to the received information meeting the received criterion, performing the action in scheduling of the media play in the media feed.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the criterion comprises a weather condition.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the criterion comprises a traffic condition.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the criterion comprises an occurrence of an event.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the criterion comprises use of a keyword.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the criterion comprises a wait time of a call center.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the criterion comprises a targeted response to a previous media play.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 6, wherein the targeted response comprises phone calls.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 6, wherein the targeted response comprises website hits.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 6, wherein the targeted response comprises coupon usage.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 6, wherein the targeted response comprises sales.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 6, wherein the media play comprises content of the previous media play.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the action comprises bidding a first amount if the criterion is met.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the action comprises playing a first media play a first percentage of time if the criterion is met.

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the user comprises an advertiser.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the information comprises one selected from a group consisting of a weather forecast, a traffic report, and a sports score.

17. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the information comprises data from a syndicated data feed.

18. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the information is received from a source remote from a hub, wherein the hub schedules the media play.

19. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein receiving criteria occurs yearly.

20. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein receiving criteria occurs monthly.

21. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein receiving criteria occurs weekly.

22. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein receiving criteria occurs daily.

23. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the receiving criteria occurs substantially in real time.

24. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein receiving information occurs weekly.

25. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein receiving information occurs daily.

26. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein receiving information occurs hourly.

27. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein receiving information occurs substantially in real time.

28. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the media feed is one of a plurality of media feeds.

29. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the criterion specifies a rule for play of a flight within a campaign.

30. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the criterion specifies a rule for play of a media play within a campaign.

31. A computer program product for automatically scheduling a media play, the computer program product stored on a computer readable medium and adapted to perform the operations of:

receiving, from a user, a criterion and an identification of action, for media play placement in a media feed;

receiving information relevant to the received criterion; and

responsive to the received information meeting the received criterion, performing the action in scheduling of the media play in the media feed.

32. An inventory management system for scheduling insertions of advertisements from an advertising campaign into available slots in a broadcast comprising:

a user interface module for receiving criteria, including at least one external criterion, for the insertion of advertisements in a broadcast;

a hub for receiving data that indicates whether the at least one external criteria is met;

a station inventory manager for maintaining information about available advertising slots for a station;

a campaign manager for bidding on available advertising slots that meet the criteria; and

an auctioneer for auctioning advertising slots to a campaign manager.
