Abstract

Slide presentation files may be separated into one or more individual slide files, and the one or more individual slide files may be stored in a remote or local slide library. Stored individual slide files are populated with metadata for allowing subsequent search and location of individual slide files. A synchronization relationship may be established between a stored slide file and a copy of the stored slide file used in a slide presentation document. As updates are made to the stored slide file, a user of a copy of the stored slide file may be informed of and provided changes made to the original slide file via the synchronization relationship.

Claims

1. A method for managing one or more slide presentation slide files, comprising:

receiving at a file storage location one or more slide presentation slide files where each slide file contains data representing a single presentation slide;

storing each received slide file in a slide library at the file storage location;

providing a means for searching slide files stored in the slide library;

receiving a selection of a given slide file identified in response to a search of slide files stored in the slide library; and

automatically inserting the selected slide file into a slide presentation document.

2. The method of claim 1, prior to automatically inserting the selected slide file into a slide presentation document, receiving a selection for inserting the selected slide file into the slide presentation document.

3. The method of claim 2, whereby providing a means for searching slide files stored in the slide library includes providing a graphical user interface for searching slide files stored in the slide library.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

receiving a search command in the graphical user interface for searching the slide files contained in the slide library for a subset of the slide files contained in the slide library; and

in response to receiving a search command in the graphical user interface, displaying in the graphical user interface data representing each slide file contained in the subset of slide files contained in the slide library.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

receiving a selection of one or more slide files contained in the subset of slide files displayed in the graphical user interface;

receiving a selection for sending the selected one or more slide files to a slide presentation application; and

in response to sending the selected one or more slide files to a slide presentation application, generating a slide presentation document containing the selected one or more slide files.

6. The method of claim 3, further comprising providing in the graphical user interface data representing each slide file contained in the slide library.

7. The method of claim 6, whereby providing data representing each slide file contained in the slide library includes providing in the graphical user interface a thumbnail image of a presentation slide contained in each slide file contained in the slide library.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising providing in the graphical user interface identification information for each slide file contained in the slide library.

9. The method of claim 8, whereby providing in the graphical user interface identification information for each slide file contained in the slide library includes providing a title of a slide presentation document from which each slide file contained in the slide library was received.

10. The method of claim 9, whereby providing in the graphical user interface identification information for each slide file contained in the slide library includes providing a description of each slide file contained in the slide library.

11. The method of claim 10, whereby providing in the graphical user interface identification information for each slide file contained in the slide library includes providing an identification of a last editor of each slide file contained in the slide library.

12. The method of claim 11, whereby providing in the graphical user interface identification information for each slide file contained in the slide library includes providing a date of last modification of each slide file contained in the slide library.

13. The method of claim 12, whereby providing in the graphical user interface identification information for each slide file contained in the slide library includes providing a file name of each slide file contained in the slide library.

14. The method of claim 13, whereby providing in the graphical user interface identification information for each slide file contained in the slide library includes providing an identification of a number of times each slide file has been copied from the slide library.

15. A computer readable medium containing computer executable instructions which when executed by a computer perform a method for managing one or more slide presentation slide files, comprising:

providing a graphical user interface for searching slide files stored in a slide library;

displaying one or more slide files stored in the slide library in the graphical user interface in response to a search of slide files stored in the slide library;

receiving a selection of a displayed slide file for insertion into a slide presentation document; and

automatically inserting the selected slide file into the slide presentation document.

16. The computer readable medium of claim 15, further comprising:

receiving a selection of one or more slide files displayed in the graphical user interface;

receiving a selection for sending the selected one or more slide files to a slide presentation application;

in response to sending the selected one or more slide files to a slide presentation application, launching the slide presentation application; and

generating a slide presentation document containing the selected one or more slide files.

17. A computer readable medium containing computer executable instructions which when executed by a computer perform a method for managing one or more slide presentation slide files, comprising:

receiving at a slide library one or more slide presentation slide files where each slide file contains data representing a single presentation slide;

providing a graphical user interface for searching slide files stored in the slide library;

receiving a search command in the graphical user interface for searching the slide files contained in the slide library for a subset of the slide files contained in the slide library; and

in response to receiving a search command in the graphical user interface, displaying in the graphical user interface data representing each slide file contained in the subset of slide files contained in the slide library;

receiving a selection of one or more slide files displayed in the graphical user interface;

receiving a selection for sending the selected one or more slide files to a slide presentation application; and

in response to sending the selected one or more slide files to a slide presentation application, generating a slide presentation document containing the selected one or more slide files.

18. The computer readable medium of claim 17, whereby providing data representing each slide file contained in the slide library includes providing in the graphical user interface a thumbnail image of a presentation slide contained in each slide file contained in the slide library.

19. The computer readable medium of claim 18, further comprising providing in the graphical user interface identification information for each slide file contained in the slide library.

20. The computer readable medium of claim 19, whereby receiving a search command in the graphical user interface for searching the slide files contained in the slide library for a subset of the slide files contained in the slide library includes receiving a search string identifying one or more portions of the identification information for at least one slide file contained in the slide library
