Abstract

The present invention provides a video reproducing device which provides a function of reproducing a still image file and a moving image file recorded onto a recording medium in plural formats so that a user can easily identify a matched statuses of the files in the video reproducing device and can select and operate a target file as well as a control method therefor. The present invention displays an index screen in which thumbnails of a still image file and a moving image file in plural formats read from a recording medium are arrayed and further displays icons for clarifying a match relation between the video reproducing device and the files.

Claims

1. A video reproducing device comprising:

an interface unit configured to be connectable to a recording medium to be input a still image file and/or a moving image file recorded in the recording medium; and

a processing unit which reproduces the still image file and/or the moving image file input to the interface unit to display on a display unit,

wherein the processing unit can generate a plurality of thumbnail images of the still image files and/or the moving image files and can display them on the display unit, and

information indicating whether or not audio can be reproduced together with the still image file and/or the moving image file is added to the thumbnail image to be displayed.

2. The video reproducing device according to claim 1, wherein the recording medium is a memory card.

3. The video reproducing device according to claim 1, wherein the recording medium can be connected to the interface unit via a USB cable.

4. The video reproducing device according to claim 3, wherein the interface unit includes a first interface unit which can be connected to the recording medium, and a second interface unit which can be connected to the USB cable.

The video reproducing device according to claim 1, wherein a first index screen showing a listing of the thumbnail images of the still image files and a second index screen showing a listing of the thumbnail images of the moving image files can be switched in accordance with an instruction from a user.

The video reproducing device according to claim 1, wherein the processing unit can be matched with a plurality of formats, and when a format of the still image file and/or the moving image file inputted to the interface unit cannot be reproduced by the video reproducing device, in place of the thumbnail image, an icon indicating that the still image file and/or the moving image file cannot be reproduced is displayed.

7. The video reproducing device according to claim 5,

wherein the video reproducing device is included in a television receiver and further has a remote controller for the television receiver,

each of a plurality of thumbnail images displayed on the first or second index screen is given an identification number, and

when the first or second index screen is displayed and a channel button provided on the remote controller is operated, the thumbnail image given the identification number corresponding to a numerical value inputted by the channel button can be selected.

8. The video reproducing device according to claim 7, wherein when the first or second index screen is displayed and the channel button provided on the remote controller is operated, no channels can be selected.

9. The video reproducing device according to claim 5, wherein a background image of the first or second index screen includes a horizontal stripe pattern.

The video reproducing device according to claim 7, wherein information indicating whether or not the audio can be reproduced includes information indicating whether an audio file is added to the still image file and/or the moving image file or information indicating whether a format of the audio file added to the still image file and/or the moving image file can be matched with the video reproducing device.

11. A video reproducing device which can display a video based on an input video signal, comprising:

an interface unit configured to be connectable to a recording medium to be input a still image file and/or a moving image file recorded in the recording medium;

a processing unit which reproduces the still image file and/or the moving image file input to the interface unit to display on a display unit, and

a remote controller having a switch operation unit,

wherein the processing unit can generate a first index screen showing a listing of a plurality of thumbnail images corresponding to the still image files and a second index screen showing a listing of a plurality of thumbnail images corresponding to the moving image files and can display them on the display unit, and

the switch operation unit is continuously operated to sequentially switch and display a video based on the input video signal, the first index screen, and the second index screen.

12. The video reproducing device according to claim 11, wherein the input video signal is a received television signal or a video signal from an external imaging device.

13. The video reproducing device according to claim 11, wherein the switch operation unit is a single switch button only for switching and displaying the first and second index screen.

14. The video reproducing device according to claim 11,

wherein each of a plurality of thumbnail images displayed on the first or second index screen is given an identification number, and

when the first or second index screen is displayed and a channel button provided on the remote controller of the video reproducing device is operated, a thumbnail image given a identification number corresponding to a numerical value inputted by the channel button can be directly selected.

15. The video reproducing device according to claim 14, wherein when the first or second index screen is displayed, channel selection operation using the channel button provided on the remote controller is prohibited.

16. A video reproducing device comprising:

an interface unit configured to be connectable to a recording medium to be input a still image file and/or a moving image file recorded in the recording medium; and

a processing unit which reproduces the still image file and/or the moving image file input to the interface unit to display on a display unit,

wherein the processing unit can generate a first index screen showing a listing of a plurality of thumbnail images corresponding to the still image files and a second index screen showing a listing of a plurality of thumbnail images corresponding to the moving image files and can display them on the display unit, and

a background image of the first or second index screen includes a horizontal stripe pattern narrower than a pitch between the thumbnail images in a vertical direction.

17. The video reproducing device according to claim 16, wherein an average brightness level of the background image including the horizontal stripe pattern is controlled in accordance with an average brightness level of the thumbnail images displayed on the first or second index screen.

18. The video reproducing device according to claim 17, wherein the average brightness level of the background image including the horizontal stripe pattern is controlled to be ±

10% or below of the average brightness level of the thumbnail images.
