Abstract

Devices and methods for accessing and closing vascular sites are disclosed. Self-sealing closure devices and methods are disclosed. A device that can make a steep and controlled access path into a vascular lumen is disclosed. Methods for using the device are also disclosed.

Claims

56. A method comprising:

introducing an introducer into tissue; and

traversing the introducer through the tissue to form a tract in the tissue,

wherein the tract includes at least one sloped region, and the tract self-seals.

57. The method of claim 56, wherein the tissue comprises a blood vessel.

58. The method of claim 57, wherein the blood vessel comprises a vessel wall defining a lumen, and traversing the introducer through the tissue to form a tract in the tissue comprises traversing the introducer through the vessel wall.

59. The method of claim 58, wherein the vessel wall comprises intima, media, adventitia, or a combination thereof.

60. The method of claim 57, wherein the blood vessel comprises an artery.
