Abstract

Two or more antennas for receiving first and second modulated signals and for providing signals to one or more demodulators for demodulating the first modulated signal and providing cross-correlated demodulated in-phase and quadrature-phase baseband signals and demodulating the second modulated signal and providing a demodulated baseband signal and a selector for selecting either the first or the second demodulated signal. In certain embodiments the demodulator demodulating the first or the second modulated signal is comprised of bit rate switchable filters and/or mis-matched filters which are mismatched to that of the filters of the modulator of the first or the second bit rate modulated signal. In some of the applications the first or the second modulated received signal is a TDM or TDMA or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) modulated signal and/or a CDMA or other spread spectrum modulated signal and/or Phase Shift Keying (PSK) modulation, or a Quadrature Modulation (QM), or a Frequency Modulation (FM) modulated signal. In certain implementations and applications the demodulator is used for demodulation of Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) modulated signals and spread spectrum modulated signals or burst operated signals.

Claims

1. An antenna receiver and demodulation system comprising:

an antenna system comprising of two or more antennas for receiving first and second modulated signal and for providing said signal to a demodulator system;

a demodulator system comprising one ore more demodulators for demodulating the first modulated signal and providing cross-correlated demodulated in-phase and quadrature-phase baseband signals and demodulating the second modulated signal and providing a demodulated baseband signal; and

a selector for selecting either the first or the second demodulated signal.

4. The system as in claim 1 wherein the demodulator demodulating the first modulated signal is comprised of mismatched filters which are mismatched to the filters of the modulator of the first modulated signal.

5. The system as in claim 1 wherein the demodulator demodulating the second modulated signal is comprised of a mis-matched filter which are mismatched to the filters of the modulator of the first modulated signal.

6. The system as in claim 1 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) modulated signal.

7. The system as in claim 1 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a TDM modulated signal.

8. The system as in claim 1 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a TDMA modulated signal.

9. The demodulation system as in claim 1 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a spread spectrum modulated signal.

10. The demodulation system as in claim 1 wherein the first modulated signal is a Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) or a Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) modulated signal and the second modulated signal is a spread spectrum modulated signal.

11. The demodulation system as in claim 1 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) modulated signal.

12. The system as in claim 1 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a Phase Shift Keying (PSK) modulation, or a n Offset OQPSK (OQPSK) or a Quadrature Modulation (QM), or a Frequency Modulation (FM) modulated signal.

2. An antenna receiver and demodulation system comprising:

an antenna system comprising of two or more antennas for receiving first and second modulated signals and for providing said signals to a demodulator system;

a demodulator system comprising two ore more demodulators for demodulating the first modulated signal and providing cross-correlated demodulated in-phase and quadrature-phase baseband signals and demodulating the second modulated signal and providing a demodulated baseband signal; and

a selector for selecting either the first or the second demodulated signal.

13. The system as in claim 2 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a TDM or a TDMA modulated signal.

14. The demodulation system as in claim 2 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) modulated signal.

15. The demodulation system as in claim 2 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a spread spectrum modulated signal.

16. The demodulation system as in claim 2 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a Phase Shift Keying (PSK) modulation, or a Quadrature Modulation (QM), or a Frequency Modulation (FM) modulated signal.

3. An antenna transmitter, receiver and demodulation system comprising:

an antenna system comprising of two or more antennas for transmission and reception of a first and of a second modulated signal and for providing received signals to a demodulator system;

a demodulator system comprising one ore more demodulators for demodulating the first modulated signal and providing cross-correlated demodulated in-phase and quadrature-phase baseband signals and demodulating the second modulated signal and providing a demodulated baseband signal; and

a selector for selecting either the first or the second demodulated signal.

17. The receiver and demodulation system as in claim 3 wherein the first demodulator is comprised of mismatched filters which are mismatched to that of the filters of the modulator providing the first modulated signal.

18. The system as in claim 3 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a TDM or a TDMA modulated signal.

19. The receiver and demodulation system as in claim 3 wherein the second modulated signal is an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) modulated signal.

20. The receiver and demodulation system as in claim 3 wherein the first or the second modulated signal is a spread spectrum modulated signal.
