1. A method for providing advertising content for display in at least one page over a network, comprising:

  • obtaining information based on at least one activity associated with a user;

    employing the obtained information to provide a plurality of scores that determine an interest of the user in at least one category, wherein the plurality of scores include a short-term score and at least one long-term score; and

    employing the plurality of scores to select an advertisement to be displayed in the page.
