Abstract

Improved search capabilities are disclosed for mobile communications devices such as cell phones, as well as improved techniques for delivering sponsored content in a mobile communication environment.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

arranging a plurality of sponsored content items, each one of the sponsored content items having an associated bid including an amount, in an order related to the amount; and

communicating the plurality of sponsored content items to a mobile communication facility in a format adapted to display the plurality of sponsored content items in the order on the mobile communication facility.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising displaying the plurality of sponsored content items in the order on the mobile communication facility.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the order is a descending order.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the order is an ascending order.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the plurality of sponsored content items comprises a sponsored link.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the plurality of sponsored content items comprises a sponsored call identifier.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the plurality of sponsored content items comprises a syndicated advertisement.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the plurality of sponsored content items comprises purchasable content.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein at least one of the plurality of sponsored content items is associated with purchasable content.

10. The method of claim 1 further comprising communicating an unsponsored content item to the mobile communication facility.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein at least one of the plurality of sponsored content items and the unsponsored content item are displayed on the mobile communication facility.

12. The method of claim 1 wherein a portion of revenue from at least one of arranging the plurality of sponsored content items and communicating the plurality of sponsored content items is provided to a wireless service provider.

13. The method of claim 12 wherein the portion of revenue is determined from the amount of the associated bid for at least one of the plurality of sponsored content items.

14. The method of claim 1 wherein a portion of revenue from at least one of arranging the plurality of sponsored content items and communicating the plurality of sponsored content items is provided to a search provider.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein the portion of revenue is determined from the amount of the associated bid for at least one of the plurality of sponsored content items.

16. A method comprising:

arranging a plurality of sponsored content items, each one of the sponsored content items having an associated relevancy, in an order related to the associated relevancy; and

communicating the plurality of sponsored content items to a mobile communication facility in a format adapted to display the plurality of sponsored content items in the order on the mobile communication facility.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein the associated relevancy is determined at least in part through an analysis of a search query.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein the search query is entered on the mobile communication facility.

19. The method of claim 16 wherein the associated relevancy is determined at least in part through an analysis of one or more of the plurality of sponsored content items.

28. A computer program product comprising computer executable code embodied on a computer readable medium that, when executed on one or more computers, performs the steps of:

arranging a plurality of sponsored content items, each one of the sponsored content items having an associated bid including an amount, in an order related to the amount; and

communicating the plurality of sponsored content items to a mobile communication facility in a format adapted to display the plurality of sponsored content items in the order on the mobile communication facility.
