Abstract

A personal items network, comprising a plurality of items, each item having a wireless communications port for coupling in network with every other item, each item having a processor for determining if any other item in the network is no longer linked to the item, each item having an indicator for informing a user that an item has left the network, wherein a user may locate lost items. A method for locating lost personal items, comprising: linking at least two personal items together on a network; and depositing one or both of time and location information in an unlost item when one of the items is lost out of network.

Claims

1. A personal items network, comprising a plurality of items, each item having a wireless communications port for coupling in network with every other item, each item having a processor for determining if any other item in the network is no longer linked to the item, each item having an indicator for informing a user that an item has left the network, wherein a user may locate lost items.

2. The personal items network of claim 1, wherein each item further comprises memory, wherein a cookie is left within the memory indicating one or more of a time and location of a lost item.

3. The personal items network of claim 2, wherein at least one of the items is a cell phone providing the location.

4. The personal items network of claim 1, wherein at least one of the items is a GPS receiver providing the location.

5. The personal items network of claim 1, the plurality of items comprise at least one of a wallet, purse, personal data assistant, personal computer, watch, credit card, keys, cell phone.

6. The personal items network of claim 1, wherein one of the items comprises a credit card having a transceiver to facilitate the wireless communications.

7. The personal items network of claim 1, at least one of the items comprising a transponder to reflect data to one or more other items.

8. The personal items network of claim 1, wherein the wireless communications comprises one or both of time and location information to usable in finding the lost items.

9. The personal items network of claim 1, the indicator comprising an LED, LCD, buzzer or vibrator.

10. The personal items network of claim 1, wherein the wireless information comprises a cookie of information to assist in locating lost items.

11. The personal items network of claim 1, wherein at least one of the items is a cell phone and wherein the wireless communications comprises a cell location of the cell phone.

12. A method for locating lost personal items, comprising:

linking at least two personal items together on a network; and

depositing one or both of time and location information in an unlost item when one of the items is lost out of network.

13. The method of claim 12, linking comprising utilizing bluetooth.

14. The method of claim 12, linking comprising linking one or more of a wallet, purse, personal data assistant, personal computer, watch, credit card, keys, cell phone.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising utilizing a cell phone to provide the location information.

16. The method of claim 12, further comprising utilizing a GPS receiver to provide the location information.

17. A personal item that networks with other personal items to annotate time or location when lost, comprising:

a transceiver configured with the personal item, to wirelessly communicate with other personal items;

a processor configured with the personal item, for determining if any of the other items initially networked with the personal item are no longer linked to the personal item; and

an indicator for informing a user that any one of the other items has left the network.

18. The personal item of claim 17, wherein the personal item comprises one of a wallet, purse, personal data assistant, personal computer, watch, credit card, keys, cell phone.

19. The personal item of claim 17, further comprising a cookie of information stored within the personal item which defines one or both of the location and time associate with lost personal items.

20. The personal item of claim 17, further comprising memory for storing one or both of location and time associated with loss of one of the personal items.
