Abstract

A wireless handheld user device or cellphone that includes the ability to transmit to a recipient digital content that is presently being presented to a user. The device includes a component that presents video or audio, a peer-to-peer activator and a processing device coupled to the component and the peer-to-peer activator. The processor includes a component that selects at least one recipient and a component that wirelessly transmits the presented at least one video or audio to the selected at least one recipient upon activation of the peer-to-peer activator. In one aspect of the invention, the transmission component includes a component that automatically selects a data protocol for the presented at least one video or audio and a component that automatically selects a transmission means from a plurality of transmission means based on cost of transmission and/or a previously defined level of urgency.

Claims

1. A wireless handheld user device comprising:

a component for presenting at least one of image or audio;

a peer-to-peer activator; and

a processing device in data communication with the component and the peer-to-peer activator, the processor comprising;

a component for selecting at least one recipient;

a component for wirelessly transmitting the presented at least one image or audio to the selected at least one recipient upon activation of the peer-to-peer activator.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the transmission component includes:

a component for automatically selecting a data protocol for the presented at least one image or audio; and

a component for automatically selecting a transmission means from a plurality of transmission means.

3. The device of claim 2, wherein the component for automatically selecting the transmission means automatically selects the transmission means based on cost of transmission.

4. The device of claim 2, wherein the a component for automatically selecting the transmission means automatically selects the transmission means based on previously defined level of urgency.

5. The device of claim 2, wherein the plurality of transmission means includes at least two of a Bluetooth transceiver, a WiFi transceiver, an infrared transceiver, or a cellular network transceiver.

6. The device of claim 1, wherein the component for presenting includes a camera.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein the component for presenting includes a microphone.

8. The device of claim 1, further comprising a key pad, wherein the peer-to-peer activator is a key in proximity to the key pad.

9. The device of claim 1, wherein the component for presenting includes a display and the peer-to-peer activator is a button presented on the display.

10. A method for transmission of digital content, the method comprising:

presenting at least one of image or audio on a wireless handheld user device;

receiving a selection of at least one recipient; and

transmitting the presented at least one image or audio to the selected at least one recipient based upon user activation of a previously designated activator on the wireless handheld user device.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein transmitting comprises:

automatically selecting a data protocol for the presented at least one image or audio; and

automatically selecting a transmission means from a plurality of transmission means.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein automatically selecting the transmission means automatically selects the transmission means based on cost of transmission.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein automatically selecting the transmission means automatically selects the transmission means based on previously defined level of urgency.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein the plurality of transmission means includes at least two of a Bluetooth transceiver, a WiFi transceiver, an infrared transceiver, or a cellular network transceiver.

15. The method of claim 10, wherein the presented image an image captured by a camera included in the wireless handheld user device.

16. The method of claim 10, wherein the presented audio includes sound recorded using a microphone included in the wireless handheld user device.

17. The method of claim 10, wherein transmitting includes transmitting a notification message via a first network and transmitting the presented at least one image, text or audio via a second network.
