A catalyst for controlling emissions of NO and/or CO from a combustion process that combusts carbonaceous fuels in oxidizing conditions, the catalyst having a metal oxide loading comprising oxides of iron and one or more of a group consisting of copper, cerium and potassium, deposited on a porous support material for converting, free from introducing an external agent for NO reduction, NO to N2, by using CO as the reductant of NO, and/or CO to CO2.
