Abstract

In an embodiment of a computer-based system, a database and attributes to access that database are provided. The computer-based system is configured for one or more process controls, each of the one or more process controls comprising a subset of the plurality of attributes. The computer-based system is further configured to enable access to the database using the one or more process controls.

Claims

1. A process comprising:

providing a database in a computer-based system;

providing a plurality of attributes to access the database;

configuring the computer-based system for one or more process controls, each of the one or more process controls comprising a subset of the plurality of attributes; and

configuring the computer-based system to enable access to the database using the one or more process controls.

2. The process of claim 1, wherein the database comprises a master database.

3. The process of claim 1, wherein the database comprises a plurality of tables.

4. The process of claim 1, further comprising enabling the computer-based system to retrieve a subset of attributes from the database according to each process control.

5. The process of claim 1, wherein the plurality of attributes of each process control is related to a particular business process of a business organization.

6. The process of claim 1, further comprising:

defining a first process control to include standard attributes; and

defining a second process control to include standard attributes and variable attributes.

7. The process of claim 1, wherein the process controls include one or more of a material sales process control, a service product sales process control, a warranty service process control, an individual material sales process control, a material financials process control, a material inventory process control, a material delivery process control, a material supply planning process control, a material availability confirmation process control, a material procurement process control, and a service product procurement process control.

8. A system comprising:

a module to provide a database in a computer-based system;

a module to provide a plurality of attributes to access the database;

a module to configure the computer-based system for one or more process controls, each of the one or more process controls comprising a subset of the plurality of attributes; and

a module to configure the computer-based system to enable access to the database using the one or more process controls.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the database comprises a master database.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the database comprises a plurality of tables.

11. The system of claim 8, further comprising a module to enable the computer-base system to retrieve a subset of attributes from the database according to each process control.

12. The system of claim 8, wherein the plurality of attributes of each process control is related to a particular business process of a business organization.

13. The system of claim 8, further comprising:

a module to define a first process control to include standard attributes; and

a module to define a second process control to include standard attributes and variable attributes.

14. The system of claim 8, wherein the process controls include one or more of a material sales process control, a service product sales process control, a warranty service process control, an individual material sales process control, a material financials process control, a material inventory process control, a material delivery process control, a material supply planning process control, a material availability confirmation process control, a material procurement process control, and a service product procurement process control.

15. A machine-readable medium comprising instructions thereon for executing a process comprising:

providing a database in a computer-based system;

providing a plurality of attributes to access the database;

configuring the computer-based system for one or more process controls, each of the one or more process controls comprising a subset of the plurality of attributes; and

configuring the computer-based system to enable access to the database using the one or more process controls.

16. The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the database comprises a master database.

17. The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the database comprises a plurality of tables.

18. The machine-readable medium of claim 15, further comprising instructions thereon for enabling the computer-based system to retrieve a subset of attributes from the database according to each process control.

19. The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the plurality of attributes of each process control is related to a particular business process of a business organization;

and further wherein;

the process controls include one or more of a material sales process control, a service product sales process control, a warranty service process control, an individual material sales process control, a material financials process control, a material inventory process control, a material delivery process control, a material supply planning process control, a material availability confirmation process control, a material procurement process control, and a service product procurement process control.

20. The machine readable medium of claim 15, further comprising instructions thereon for:

defining a first process control to include standard attributes; and

defining a second process control to include standard attributes and variable attributes.
