Abstract

Systems and methods for stream processing message data relating to a web service application are described. One system has an input pipe for receiving multiple interrelated session based messages according to an order with which they originate. A processor processes an accumulation of the messages upon reaching a trigger point related to grammar characterizing the messages.

Claims

1. A unit for processing a stream of message data relating to a web service application, comprising:

at least one input pipe for receiving a plurality of interrelated messages according to an order with which said messages are originated; and

a processor for processing an accumulation of said messages upon reaching a trigger point related to a grammar characterizing said messages.

The stream processing unit as recited in claim 1 wherein said stream of data is handled therewith according to a session wherein said messages are originated with a service provider, wherein a data flow relating to said session is routed according to a topology created for said session and wherein said service provider and said topology are selected at an establishment time corresponding to said session.

3. The stream processing unit as recited in claim 1 further comprising at least one output pipe wherein said processing comprises:

generating a new message based on said processing; and

placing said new message in an appropriate said output pipe according to said subsequent destination wherein said new message is sent thereto from said output pipe.

4. The stream processing unit as recited in claim 1 wherein said processing comprises sinking said data.

5. The stream processing unit as recited in claim 1 further comprising a grammar tree state machine that controls said processor according to said trigger point.

6. The stream processing unit as recited in claim 1 further comprising a message buffer associated with each said input pipe configured to store said accumulation.

7. The stream processing unit as recited in claim 6 wherein said grammar comprises:

a definition of a grouping of data corresponding to said accumulation; and

data flow associated with said stream of data.

8. The stream processing unit as recited in claim 7 wherein said data flow comprises one or more of a split and a join operation.

9. The stream processing unit as recited in claim 1 wherein said grammar comprises metadata associated with code comprising said messages.

10. A method for streaming data relating to a web service, comprising:

establishing a session, wherein said session allows a plurality of interrelated messages to flow from an originating application to a destination application according to the order with which said messages are originated;

upon said establishing, sending data related to said session from said originating application to a destination application with said messages;

accumulating said data until a trigger point related to a grammar characterizing said message is reached; and

processing said data upon reaching said trigger point wherein said processing comprises a function related to said destination application.

11. The method as recited in claim 10 wherein said processing comprises:

generating a new message based on said processing; and

sending said new message to a subsequent destination.

12. The method as recited in claim 10 wherein said processing comprises sinking said data wherein a functionality performing said processing comprises said destination application.

13. A computer usable medium having encoded thereon computer readable code for controlling a computer system to perform a process for streaming data relating to a web service, said process comprising:

establishing a session, wherein said session allows a plurality of interrelated messages to flow from an originating application to a destination application according to the order with which said messages are originated;

upon said establishing, sending data related to said session from said originating application to a destination application with said messages;

accumulating said data until a trigger point related to a grammar characterizing said message is reached; and

processing said data upon reaching said trigger point wherein said processing comprises a function related to said destination application.

14. The medium as recited in claim 13 wherein said processing comprises selectively:

sending a new message wherein said sending comprises;

generating a new message based on said processing; and

transmitting said new message to a subsequent destination; and

sinking said data.

15. A system for streaming data relating to a web service, comprising:

means for establishing a session, wherein said session allows a plurality of interrelated messages to flow from an originating application to a destination application according to the order with which said messages are originated;

means for, upon said establishing, sending data related to said session from said originating application to a destination application with said messages;

means for accumulating said data until a trigger point related to a grammar characterizing said message is reached; and

means for processing said data upon reaching said trigger point wherein said processing comprises a function related to said destination application.

16. The system as recited in claim 15 wherein said processing means selectively comprise:

means for sending a new message wherein said sending means comprise;

means for generating a new message based on said processing; and

means for sending said new message to a subsequent destination; and

means for sinking said data wherein a functionality comprising said processing means further comprises said destination application.

17. A system for controlling processing of a stream of message data relating to a web service application, comprising:

a coordinator for setting a stream processing session upon a request from a first network entity; and

at least one service provider selectable by said coordinator to provide a streaming Web service in response to said request wherein, upon said setting, said coordinator handshakes with said service provider to establish a pipe that effectively couples said service provider with said first network entity for exchanging said stream of message data between them.

18. The system as recited in claim 17 wherein said service provider comprises a stream processing unit wherein said stream processing unit comprises:

at least one input pipe for receiving a plurality of interrelated messages according to a session based order with which said messages are originated wherein said coordinator establishes said input pipe; and

a processor for performing a processing function on an accumulation of said session message data upon reaching a trigger point related to a grammar characterizing said session messages wherein said processing comprises generating a second message based on said processing.

19. A method for controlling processing of a stream of message data relating to a web service application, comprising:

setting a stream processing session upon a request from a first network entity;

selecting at least one service provider to provide a streaming Web service in response to said request;

handshaking with said service provider; and

establishing a pipe that effectively couples said service provider with said first network entity for exchanging said stream of message data between them.

20. A system for controlling processing of a stream of message data relating to a web service application, comprising:

means for setting a stream processing session upon a request from a first network entity;

means for selecting at least one service provider to provide a streaming Web service in response to said request;

means for handshaking with said service provider; and

means for establishing a pipe that effectively couples said service provider with said first network entity for exchanging said stream of message data between them.

21. An apparatus for controlling the processing of a stream of message data relating to a web service application, comprising:

a stream processing session setter, for establishing said session upon a request from a first network entity;

a selector functioning with said session setter, for selecting at least one service provider to provide a streaming Web service in response to said request;

a session commencer functioning with said selector, for handshaking with said service provider; and

a pipe setter functional with said session commencer, for establishing a pipe that effectively couples said service provider with said first network entity for exchanging said stream of message data between them.
