Abstract

The present invention relates to detection of the presence or absence of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in a sample, in particular to the analysis of the CSF protein lipocalin-type prostaglandin D2 synthase (L-PGDS). The present invention provides assays for the analysis of PGDS indicating the presence or absence of CSF in a sample.

Claims

1. A method for detecting the presence or absence of cerebrospinal fluid in a sample, comprising the steps of:

(1) providing a sample from a subject;

(2) analyzing said sample for the presence or absence of lipocalin-type prostaglandin D2 synthase; and

(3) correlating the presence or absence of said lipocalin-type prostaglandin D2 synthase with the presence or absence of said cerebrospinal fluid in said sample.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said analyzing step comprises differential antibody binding.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein said analyzing step comprises an in situ immunoassay.
