Abstract

A system and method for managing respiratory insufficiency through remote patient care is described. A patient enrolled in remote patient care is identified with information including at least one of treatment profile and medical history. Collected device measures are received to record raw physiometry for a patient, wherein the patient is regularly monitored by a medical device. Derived device measures are generated to provide derivative physiometry based on the collected device measures. A patient status indicator is determined by analyzing the collected and derived device measures to diagnose a pathophysiology indicative of respiratory insufficiency.

Claims

1. Stored respiratory insufficiency data managed through remote patient care, comprising:

information to identify a patient enrolled under remote patient care comprising at least one of treatment profile and medical history;

collected device measures to record raw physiometry for the patient, wherein the patient is regularly monitored by a medical device;

derived device measures to provide derivative physiometry based on the collected device measures; and

a patient status indicator determined by analyzing the collected and derived device measures to diagnose a pathophysiology indicative of respiratory insufficiency.

2. Stored respiratory insufficiency data according to claim 1, further comprising one or more of:

criteria data comprising evaluation parameters for respiratory insufficiency, wherein the patient status indicator is determined by analyzing one or more of the collected and derived device measures against the evaluation parameters;

trend data identified by evaluating the collected and derived device measures for an onset, progression, regression, and status quo of respiratory insufficiency; and

reprogramming parameters for the medical device, wherein the collected device measures are recorded subsequent to application of the reprogramming parameters.

3. Stored respiratory insufficiency data according to claim 1, further comprising:

quality of life measures to provide qualified voice feedback data electronically recorded by the patient contemporaneous to recordation of the collected device measures.

4. Stored respiratory insufficiency data according to claim 1, further comprising:

baseline data quantified by those of the collected and derived device measures associated with a fixed time period.

5. Stored respiratory insufficiency data according to claim 1, further comprising:

feedback data selected from the group comprising an interpretive patient status, a medical diagnosis patient notification, a medical diagnosis caregiver notification, and reprogramming instructions for the medical device.

6. A medical device for managing respiratory insufficiency through remote patient care, comprising:

one or more sensors to directly sense raw physiometry for a patient under remote patient care;

sensing circuitry to regularly monitor and record the raw physiometry as collected device measures;

memory to temporarily store the collected device measures pending interrogation by an externally interfaceable device; and

a telemetry interface to provide access to the collected device measures, wherein device measures are derived from the collected device measures and the collected and derived device measures quantify a pathophysiology indicative of respiratory insufficiency.

7. A medical device according to claim 6, further comprising:

reprogramming parameters for the medical device, wherein the collected device measures are recorded subsequent to application of the reprogramming parameters.

8. A programmer for managing respiratory insufficiency through remote patient care, comprising:

information comprising at least one of treatment profile and medical history for a patient enrolled under remote patient care;

storage, comprising;

collected device measures to record raw physiometry for the patient, wherein the patient is regularly monitored by a medical device; and

derived device measures to provide derivative physiometry based on the collected device measures; and

a processor to determine a patient status indicator by analyzing the collected and derived data measures to diagnose a pathophysiology of respiratory insufficiency.

9. A programmer according to claim 8, further comprising:

a criteria comprising evaluation parameters for respiratory insufficiency, wherein the patient status indicator is determined by analyzing one or more of the collected and derived device measures against the evaluation parameters.

10. A programmer according to claim 8, further comprising:

baseline data quantified by those of the collected and derived device measures associated with a fixed time period.

11. An analysis system for managing respiratory insufficiency through remote patient care, comprising:

a database, comprising;

information to identify a patient enrolled in remote patient care comprising at least one of treatment profile and medical history;

collected device measures to record raw physiometry for the patient, wherein the patient is regularly monitored by a medical device; and

derived device measures to provide derivative physiometry based on the collected device measures;

an interface to receive the collected device measures; and

a processing module, comprising;

a processor to generate derived device measures from the collected device measures; and

a determination module to determine a patient status indicator by analyzing the collected and derived device measures to diagnose a pathophysiology indicative of respiratory insufficiency.

12. An analysis system according to claim 11, further comprising:

stored evaluation parameters for respiratory insufficiency; and

an analysis module to determine the patient status indicator by analyzing one or more of the collected and derived device measures against the evaluation parameters.

13. An analysis system according to claim 11, further comprising:

an analysis module to identify a trend by evaluating the collected and derived device measures for an onset, progression, regression, and status quo of respiratory insufficiency.

14. An analysis system according to claim 11, further comprising:

recorded quality of life measures to provide qualified voice feedback data electronically recorded by the candidate patient contemporaneous to recordation of the collected device measures.

15. An analysis system according to claim 11, further comprising:

reprogramming parameters for the medical device, wherein the collected device measures are recorded subsequent to application of the reprogramming parameters.

16. An analysis system according to claim 11, further comprising:

an analysis module to define a baseline quantified by those of the collected and derived device measures associated with a fixed time period.

17. An analysis system according to claim 11, further comprising:

a feedback module to determine feedback selected from the group comprising an interpretive patient status, a medical diagnosis patient notification, a medical diagnosis caregiver notification, and reprogramming instructions for the medical device.

18. A structured record to store respiratory insufficiency data managed through remote patient care, comprising:

structured data for a patient enrolled in remote patient care, comprising at least one of;

information to identify the patient comprising at least one of treatment profile and medical history;

collected device measures to record raw physiometry for the patient, wherein the patient is regularly monitored by a medical device; and

derived device measures to provide derivative physiometry based on the collected device measures; and

data comprising a patient status indicator determined by analyzing the collected and derived device measures to diagnose a pathophysiology indicative of respiratory insufficiency.

19. A structured record according to claim 18, further comprising:

quality of life measures to provide qualified voice feedback data electronically recorded by the patient contemporaneous to recordation of the collected device measures.

20. A structured record according to claim 18, further comprising:

a baseline quantified by those of the collected and derived device measures associated with a fixed time period.

21. A method for managing respiratory insufficiency through remote patient care, comprising:

identifying a patient enrolled in remote patient care with information comprising at least one of treatment profile and medical history;

receiving collected device measures to record raw physiometry for a patient, wherein the patient is regularly monitored by a medical device;

generating derived device measures to provide derivative physiometry based on the collected device measures; and

determining a patient status indicator by analyzing the collected and derived device measures to diagnose a pathophysiology indicative of respiratory insufficiency.

22. A method according to claim 21, further comprising:

defining evaluation parameters for respiratory insufficiency; and

determining the patient status indicator by analyzing one or more of the collected and derived device measures against the evaluation parameters.

23. A method according to claim 21, further comprising:

identifying a trend by evaluating the collected and derived device measures for an onset, progression, regression, and status quo of respiratory insufficiency.

24. A method according to claim 21, further comprising:

receiving quality of life measures to provide qualified voice feedback data electronically recorded by the candidate patient contemporaneous to recordation of the collected device measures.

25. A method according to claim 21, further comprising:

generating reprogramming parameters for the medical device, wherein the collected device measures are recorded subsequent to application of the reprogramming parameters.

26. A method according to claim 21, further comprising:

defining a baseline quantified by those of the collected and derived device measures associated with a fixed time period.

27. A method according to claim 21, further comprising:

determining feedback selected from the group comprising an interpretive patient status, a medical diagnosis patient notification, a medical diagnosis caregiver notification, and reprogramming instructions for the medical device.
