Abstract

The present invention provides a method, system, and program product for processing transaction data. Specifically, under the present invention, data such as lottery transaction data is received and stored in a transaction master journal file. Upon receipt, A/R data is extracted from the transaction data and fed to a queue. From the queue, the A/R data is read and processed to provide A/R details, summaries and/or reports. In a typical embodiment, the A/R data is processed to provide A/R activity details such as winner payouts, seller commissions, redeemer commissions, etc.

Claims

1. A method for processing transactions, comprising:

receiving transaction data;

extracting accounts receivable (A/R) data from the transaction data;

feeding the A/R data to a queue; and

reading the queue and processing the A/R data.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the transactions are lottery transactions.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising storing the transaction data in a transaction master journal file.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

reading a game file that contains details of lottery games;

reading a drawing file that contains details of lottery drawings; and

storing details of a lottery transaction history in a transaction history file.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

storing the A/R data in an A/R transaction file;

storing details of A/R activity in an A/R detail file;

storing summaries of the A/R activity in an A/R summary file; and

storing statistics related to the transaction data and the A/R activity in a statistics file.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the processing system utilizes configuration data to process and break down the A/R data.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the processing comprises determining A/R activity from the transaction data, and wherein the determining comprises:

determining lottery winner pay-outs;

determining lottery seller commissions; and

determining lottery redeemer commissions.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining transaction statistics after the receiving; and

storing the transaction statistics in a statistics file.

9. A system for processing lottery transactions, comprising:

a transaction receiver processor for receiving lottery transaction data;

a transaction extraction processor for extracting accounts receivable (A/R) data from the lottery transaction data;

a transaction sender processor system for feeding the A/R data to a queue; and

an A/R processing system for reading the queue and processing the A/R data.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the system for receiving stores the lottery transaction data in a transaction master journal file.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein the system for extracting reads a game file that contains details of lottery games, reads a drawing file that contains details of lottery drawings, and stores details of a lottery transaction history in a transaction history file.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein the A/R processing system further:

stores the A/R data in an A/R transaction file;

stores details of A/R activity in an A/R detail file;

stores summaries of the A/R activity in an A/R/ summary file; and

stores statistics related to the transaction data and the A/R activity in a statistics file.

13. The system of claim 9, wherein the A/R processing system utilizes configuration data to process and break down the A/R data.

14. The system of claim 9, wherein the A/R processing system further:

determines lottery winner payouts;

determines lottery seller commissions; and

determines lottery redeemer commissions.

15. The system of claim 9, wherein the transaction receiver processor further:

determines lottery transaction statistics from the lottery transaction data; and

stores the lottery transaction statistics in a statistics file.

16. A program product stored on a computer useable medium for processing transactions, comprising, the computer useable medium comprising program code for causing a computer system to perform the following steps:

receiving transaction data;

extracting accounts receivable (A/R) data from the transaction data;

feeding the A/R data to a queue; and

reading the queue and processing the A/R data.

17. The program product of claim 16, wherein the transactions are lottery transactions.

18. The program product of claim 16, the computer useable medium further comprising program code for causing the computer system to perform the following step:

storing the transaction data in a transaction master journal file.

19. The program product of claim 16, the computer useable medium further comprising program code for causing the computer system to perform the following steps:

reading a game file that contains details of lottery games;

reading a drawing file that contains details of lottery drawings; and

storing details of a lottery transaction history in a transaction history file.

20. The program product of claim 16, the computer useable medium further comprising program code for causing the computer system to perform the following steps:

storing the AIR data in an A/R transaction file;

storing details of A/R activity in an A/R detail file;

storing summaries of the A/R activity in an A/R/ summary file; and

storing statistics related to the transaction data and the A/R activity in a statistics file.

21. The program product of claim 16, the computer useable medium further comprising program code for causing the computer system to perform the following step:

accessing configuration data to process and break down the A/R data.

22. The program product of claim 16, wherein the processing comprises determining A/R activity from the transaction data, and wherein the computer useable medium further comprising program code for causing the computer system to perform the following steps:

determining lottery winner payouts;

determining lottery seller commissions; and

determining lottery redeemer commissions.

23. The program product of claim 16, the computer useable medium further comprising program code for causing the computer system to perform the following steps:

determining transaction statistics after the receiving; and

storing the transaction statistics in a statistics file.

24. A method for processing transactions, comprising:

providing a computer infrastructure being operable to;

receive transaction data;

extract accounts receivable (A/R) data from the transaction data;

feed the A/R data to a queue; and

read the queue and processing the A/R data.
