wirelessly receives, from at least one remote server via a communication network, a request for the operating status information, the request communicated according to a device management protocol standard; and
wirelessly transmits the requested operating status information to the at least one remote server.

at least one server comprising; at least one interface enabling communication with the plurality of handheld electronic devices via a wireless communication network; at least one processor operably coupled to the at least one interface and at least one memory, the at least one processor functioning during operation to, among other things; receive operating status information for one of the plurality of handheld electronic devices via the wireless communication network in accordance with a device management protocol standard; determine whether an operating condition for the one of the plurality of handheld electronic devices is met;
