Abstract

Methods, apparatus, and data structures embodied in computer-readable media are provided for facilitating access to a service in a network. Title materials are received which include one or more of a first title object, a component of the first title object, or a reference to the first title object. The first title object is a first digital bearer instrument representing at least one right relating to the service, the first title object including a reference to the service. A second title object is identified with reference to a service registry and the reference to the service included in the first title object. The second title object is a second digital bearer instrument with which redemption of the at least one right relating to the service and represented by the first title object may be effected.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for implementing a workflow in a network, the workflow comprising a sequence of operations relating to a set of services deployed in the network, the method comprising:

receiving title materials comprising one or more of a title object, a component of the title object, or a reference to the title object, the title object comprising a digital bearer instrument specifying the workflow and representing at least one right relating to implementation of the workflow in the network which may be redeemed by presentation of the title object to a title-enabled device or process operating in the network; and

upon validation of the title object, implementing the workflow in accordance with the at least one right represented by the title object.

2. A service router for implementing a workflow in a network, the workflow comprising a sequence of operations relating to a set of services deployed in the network, the method comprising:

an interface configured to receive title materials, the title materials comprising one or more of a title object, a component of the title object, or a reference to the title object, the title object comprising a digital bearer instrument specifying the workflow and representing at least one right relating to implementation of the workflow in the network which may be redeemed by presentation of the title object to a title-enabled device or process operating in the network; and

at least one processor configured to, upon validation of the title object, implement the workflow in accordance with the at least one right represented by the title object.

A computer-readable medium comprising a data structure stored therein representing a title object, the title object comprising a digital bearer instrument representing at least one right relating to implementation of a workflow in a network which may be redeemed by presentation of the title object to a title-enabled device or process operating in the network, the workflow comprising a sequence of operations relating to a set of services deployed in the network, the title object specifying the workflow such that the title-enabled device or process may implement the workflow with reference to the workflow specification.

4. A computer-implemented method for facilitating access to a service in a network, comprising:

receiving title materials comprising one or more of a first title object, a component of the first title object, or a reference to the first title object, the first title object comprising a first digital bearer instrument representing at least one right relating to the service, the first title object including a reference to the service; and

identifying a second title object with reference to a service registry and the reference to the service included in the first title object, the second title object comprising a second digital bearer instrument with which redemption of the at least one right relating to the service and represented by the first title object may be effected.

5. A service resolver for facilitating access to a service in a network, comprising:

an interface configured to receive title materials, the title materials comprising one or more of a first title object, a component of the first title object, or a reference to the first title object, the first title object comprising a first digital bearer instrument representing at least one right relating to the service, the first title object including a reference to the service; and

at least one processor configured to identify a second title object with reference to a service registry and the reference to the service included in the first title object, the second title object comprising a second digital bearer instrument with which redemption of the at least one right relating to the service and represented by the first title object may be effected.

At least one computer-readable medium having a service registry stored therein, the service registry comprising a plurality of title objects, each title object comprising a digital bearer instrument representing at least one right relating to a corresponding service, each title object specifying the corresponding service and service parameters relating to calling the service, wherein redemption of the at least one right represented by each title object may be effected by presentation of each title object to a title-enabled device or process.

7. A computer-implemented method for facilitating redemption of rights, comprising:

receiving title materials comprising one or more of a first title object, a component of the first title object, or a reference to the first title object, the title materials representing at least one right;

identifying a title object template with reference to the title materials; and

dynamically assembling a second title object using the identified title object template and at least some of the title materials, the second title object comprising a digital bearer instrument with which redemption of the at least one right represented by the title materials may be effected.

8. A title resolver for facilitating redemption of rights, comprising:

an interface configured to receive title materials comprising one or more of a first title object, a component of the first title object, or a reference to the first title object, the title materials representing at least one right;

at least one processor configured to identify a title object template from among a plurality of title object templates with reference to the title materials, and dynamically assemble a second title object using the identified title object template and at least some of the title materials, the second title object comprising a digital bearer instrument with which redemption of the at least one right represented by the title materials may be effected.

A computer-readable medium comprising a data structure stored therein representing a title object template with which a title object may be assembled with reference to title materials representing at least one right, the title object comprising a digital bearer instrument with which redemption of the at least one right represented by the title materials may be effected.
