Abstract

A system and method for monitoring a group of patients having a chronic disease or ongoing health condition. The method includes the step of collecting from each patient a corresponding set of measurements of a control parameter of the health condition. Each set of measurements has a collection date. A control value is calculated for each patient from the corresponding set of measurements. The method further includes the steps of generating and displaying a group overview chart having one data point for each patient. Each data point indicates the control value calculated for the corresponding patient and a time period which has elapsed since the collection date of the patient'"'"'s corresponding set of measurements. In a preferred embodiment, the method includes the additional steps of selecting from the group overview chart at least one of the patients represented thereon and transmitting supervisory instructions to the at least one selected patient.

Claims

1. A method for monitoring a group of at least one individual regarding a health condition, comprising:

collecting from each individual of said group a corresponding set of measurements relating to said health condition;

storing said corresponding set of measurements;

processing said corresponding set of measurements;

identifying at least one individual of said group, wherein said identification is based upon said processing of said corresponding set of measurements; and

communicating with at least one individual.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said storing said corresponding set of measurements includes storing health information associated with each individual.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein said processing said corresponding set of measurements comprises determining a control value indicative of said individual'"'"'s control over said health condition.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein said processing said corresponding set of measurements comprises determining compliance of said individual with a regimen.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein said determining compliance is based on comparing said corresponding set of measurements with other health related information of said individual.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein said other related health information of said individual comprises information related to the health condition of the individual stored in a database.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein said communicating with at least one individual comprises transmitting an electronic mail message.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein said communicating with at least one individual comprises transmitting a telephone message.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein said communicating with at least one individual comprises transmitting an instruction.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein said storing said corresponding set of measurements includes storing in a database;

said processing said corresponding set of measurements comprises determining compliance of said individual with a regimen by comparing said corresponding set of measurements with other health related information of said individual stored in said database; and

wherein said communicating with at least one individual comprises transmitting a message.

15. The system of claim 10, wherein said processing unit determines compliance based upon a time of receipt of said set of corresponding set of measurements and a number of corresponding sets of measurements compared with a prescribed number.

11. A system for monitoring a group of at least one individual regarding a health condition, comprising:

means for collecting from each individual of said group a corresponding set of measurements regarding said health condition;

means for storing said corresponding set of measurements;

means for processing said corresponding set of measurements; and

means for identifying at least one individual of said group, wherein said identification is based upon said processing of said corresponding set of measurements; and

means for communicating with at least one individual.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein said means for processing said corresponding set of measurements comprises means for determining a control value indicative of said individual'"'"'s control over said health condition.

13. A system for monitoring a group of at least one individual regarding a health condition, comprising:

a reception unit for receiving a corresponding set of measurements regarding said health condition from each individual of said group;

a processing unit in communication with said reception unit for processing said corresponding set of measurements and identifying at least one individual based upon said processing of said corresponding set of measurements; and

a transfer unit in communication with said processing unit, wherein said transfer unit communicates with said at least one individual.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein said processing unit determines a control value indicative of said individual'"'"'s control over said health condition based upon said corresponding set of measurements.

16. The system of claim 13, further comprising a device in communication with said reception unit.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein said device is one of a remote monitoring system or an electronic logbook.

18. The system of claim 17, further comprising a response device in communication with said transfer unit.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein said response device is at least one of a personal computer, a network terminal, a television, a personal digital assistant, or a video game system.

20. The system of claim 19, further comprising a database in communication with said processing unit.

21. The system of claim 17, wherein said database stores medical health history information of each individual of said group.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein said transfer unit transmits a message to said response unit based upon said medical health history information and said processing of said corresponding set of measurements.
