Abstract

An apparatus for providing automatic delivery of information to a terminal includes a communication element, a registry element and a proxy element. The communication element is configured to receive information corresponding to new content associated with a particular service. The registry element is configured to retrieve an identifier of an publisher associated with the particular service in response to receipt of the information. The proxy element is configured to push an indication of the new content to a receiving terminal having the identifier in a contact list of the receiving terminal in response to receipt of the information.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving information corresponding to new content associated with a particular service;

retrieving an identifier of a publisher associated with the particular service in response to receipt of the information; and

in response to receipt of the information, pushing an indication of the new content to a receiving terminal having the identifier in a contact list of the receiving terminal.

A method according to claim 1, wherein retrieving the identifier comprises accessing the identifier based on the particular service via a mapping registry that associates a service with a corresponding identifier of a terminal associated with a user capable of adding the new content to the service.

3. A method according to claim 2, further comprising determining access restrictions regarding the new content from the mapping registry, wherein pushing the indication is performed responsive to a determination that the receiving terminal is authorized to receive the new content.

4. A method according to claim 1, wherein pushing the indication comprises providing an indicator of the new content in the contact list of the receiving terminal.

5. A method according to claim 4, wherein providing the indicator comprises one of:

providing an icon as the indication of the new content;

or

changing a feature associated with a contact corresponding to the identifier.

6. A method according to claim 1, wherein receiving the information corresponding to new content comprises translating the information from a first format of the particular service to a second format for consumption at the receiving terminal.

7. A method according to claim 1, further comprising initial operations of:

determining the identifier associated with a new contact; and

mapping the identifier to social services associated with the identifier.

8. A computer program product comprising at least one computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:

a first executable portion for receiving information corresponding to new content associated with a particular service;

a second executable portion for retrieving an identifier of a publisher associated with the particular service in response to receipt of the information; and

a third executable portion for pushing an indication of the new content to a receiving terminal having the identifier in a contact list of the receiving terminal,

wherein the third executable portion is executed in response to receipt of the information.

A computer program product according to claim 8, wherein the second executable portion includes instructions for accessing the identifier based on the particular service via a mapping registry that associates a service with a corresponding identifier of a terminal associated with a user capable of adding the new content to the service.

A computer program product according to claim 9, further comprising a fourth executable portion for determining access restrictions regarding the new content from the mapping registry, wherein the third executable portion is executed responsive to a determination that the receiving terminal is authorized to receive the new content.

11. A computer program product according to claim 8, wherein the third executable portion includes instructions for providing an indicator of the new content in the contact list of the receiving terminal.

12. A computer program product according to claim 11, wherein the third executable portion includes instructions for one of:

providing an icon as the indication of the new content;

or

changing a feature associated with a contact corresponding to the identifier.

13. A computer program product according to claim 8, wherein the first executable portion includes instructions for translating the information from a first format of the particular service to a second format for consumption at the receiving terminal.

14. A computer program product according to claim 8, further comprising:

a fourth executable portion for determining the identifier associated with a new contact; and

a fifth executable portion for mapping the identifier to social services associated with the identifier.

15. An apparatus comprising:

a communication element configured to receive information corresponding to new content associated with a particular service;

a registry element configured to retrieve an identifier of a publisher associated with the particular service in response to receipt of the information; and

a proxy element configured to push an indication of the new content to a receiving terminal having the identifier in a contact list of the receiving terminal in response to receipt of the information.

16. An apparatus according to claim 15, wherein the registry element comprises a mapping registry that associates a service with a corresponding identifier of a terminal associated with a user capable of adding the new content to the service.

An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the registry element stores access restrictions regarding the new content from the mapping registry, and wherein the proxy element is configured to push the indication responsive to a determination that the receiving terminal is authorized to receive the new content.

18. An apparatus according to claim 15, wherein the indication comprises an indicator of the new content which is disposed in the contact list of the receiving terminal.

19. An apparatus according to claim 18, wherein the indicator comprises one of:

an icon;

a symbolic flag;

or

an altered feature associated with a contact corresponding to the identifier.

20. An apparatus according to claim 15, wherein the communication element is configured to translate the information from a first format of the particular service to a second format for consumption at the receiving terminal.

21. An apparatus according to claim 15, wherein the apparatus is disposed at a network server.

22. An apparatus according to claim 15, wherein the registry element is configured to:

determine the identifier associated with a new contact; and

map the identifier to social services associated with the identifier.

24. An apparatus according to claim 15, wherein the new content corresponds to dynamic data associated with a social service.

25. A method comprising:

automatically receiving, at a receiving terminal, an indication of new content from a network device, the new content being associated with an identifier in a contact list of the receiving terminal; and

displaying an indicator of the new content in the contact list responsive to receipt of the indication for a contact corresponding to the identifier.

26. A method according to claim 25, further comprising accessing the new content via a link generated responsive to the indication.

27. A method according to claim 26, wherein accessing the new content is performed responsive to a determination that the receiving terminal is authorized to receive the new content.

28. A computer program product comprising at least one computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:

a first executable portion for receiving, at a receiving terminal, an indication of new content from a network device, the new content being associated with an identifier in a contact list of the receiving terminal; and

a second executable portion for displaying an indicator of the new content in the contact list responsive to receipt of the indication for a contact corresponding to the identifier.

29. A computer program product according to claim 28, further comprising a third executable portion for accessing the new content via a link generated responsive to the indication.

30. A computer program product according to claim 29, wherein the third executable portion is executed responsive to a determination that the receiving terminal is authorized to receive the new content.

31. An apparatus comprising:

a display capable of displaying a contact list; and

a processing element configured to;

receive an indication of new content from a network device, the new content being associated with an identifier in a contact list of the apparatus; and

present an indicator of the new content in the contact list viewable on the display responsive to receipt of the indication for a contact corresponding to the identifier.

32. An apparatus according to claim 31, wherein the processing element is further configured to access the new content via a link generated responsive to the indication.

33. An apparatus according to claim 31, wherein the indicator comprises one of:

an icon;

a symbolic flag;

or

an altered feature associated with a contact corresponding to the identifier.

34. An apparatus according to claim 31, wherein the indicator is one of:

a Mobile Station Integrated Services Digital Network (MSISDN) number;

a telephone number;

or

an email.

35. An apparatus according to claim 31, wherein the processing element is further configured to generate a highlighted portion through which expanded information related to a contact disposed in the highlighted portion may be viewed.

36. An apparatus according to claim 31, wherein the processing element is further configured to display contacts in a font that decreases as distance from the highlighted portion increases.

37. An apparatus comprising:

means for receiving information corresponding to new content associated with a particular service;

means for retrieving an identifier of a publisher associated with the particular service in response to receipt of the information; and

means for pushing an indication of the new content to a receiving terminal having the identifier in a contact list of the receiving terminal in response to receipt of the information.
