Abstract

A method for use in providing video to a user includes establishing digital video data that includes images shot in relation to a making of content, uploading the digital video data to a server, and sending the digital video data from the server through a network to a client device for viewing by the user. A system for use in providing video to a user and a storage medium storing a computer program executable by a processor based system are also disclosed.

Claims

1. A method for use in providing video to a user, comprising:

establishing digital video data that includes images shot in relation to a making of content;

uploading the digital video data to a server;

sending the digital video data from the server through a network to a client device for viewing by the user; and

providing an ability to remotely administer the digital video data that is provided to the client device.

2. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the images shot in relation to the making of content comprises footage shot during the making of the content.

3. A method in accordance with claim 2, wherein the footage comprises dailies.

4. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the images shot in relation to the making of content comprises edited footage shot during the making of the content.

5. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the images shot in relation to the making of content comprises casting video.

6. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the ability to remotely administer the digital video data that is provided to the client device comprises an ability to remotely delete one or more portions of the digital video data.

7. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the client device includes an option that allows the user to view the digital video data in its native resolution.

8. A method in accordance with claim 1, further comprising the step of inserting a video watermark in images provided by the digital video data.

9. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the client device comprises a set-top box.

10. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the step of sending the digital video data comprises streaming the digital video data.

11. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the step of establishing digital video data is performed by a post production facility.

12. A method in accordance with claim 1, further comprising:

securing the digital video data.

13. A system for use in providing video to a user, comprising:

a server, coupled to a network, that is configured to receive uploaded digital video data that includes images shot in relation to a making of content; and

a client device, coupled to the network, that is configured to receive the digital video data from the server and display it for viewing by the user;

wherein the server is configured to send the digital video data from the server through the network to the client device;

wherein the client device is configured to display a listing of productions, a listing of production types for a selected production, a listing of dates present for a selected production type, and a listing of all clips present for a selected date.

14. A system in accordance with claim 13, wherein the images shot in relation to the making of content comprises footage shot during the making of the content.

15. A system in accordance with claim 14, wherein the footage comprises dailies.

16. A system in accordance with claim 13, wherein the images shot in relation to the making of content comprises edited footage shot during the making of the content.

17. A system in accordance with claim 13 wherein the images shot in relation to the making of content comprises casting video.

18. A system in accordance with claim 13, wherein each listing is displayed on a separate screen.

19. A system in accordance with claim 13, wherein the client device includes an option that allows the user to view the digital video data in its native resolution.

20. A system in accordance with claim 13, wherein a video watermark is inserted in images provided by the digital video data.

21. A system in accordance with claim 13, wherein the client device comprises a set-top box.

22. A system in accordance with claim 13, wherein the server is further configured to send the digital video data from the server through the network to the client device by streaming the digital video data.

23. A system in accordance with claim 13, wherein the server is further configured to secure the digital video data.

24. A storage medium storing a computer program executable by a processor based system, the computer program causing the processor based system to execute steps comprising:

receiving uploaded digital video data that includes images shot in relation to a making of content; and

sending the digital video data through a network to a client device for viewing by a user;

wherein the client device is configured to automatically track and expire one or more portions of the digital video data that is provided to the client device based on production priorities.

25. A storage medium in accordance with claim 24, wherein the images shot in relation to the making of content comprises footage shot during the making of the content.

26. A storage medium in accordance with claim 25, wherein the footage comprises dailies.

27. A storage medium in accordance with claim 24, wherein the images shot in relation to the making of content comprises edited footage shot during the making of the content.

28. A storage medium in accordance with claim 24, wherein the step of sending the digital video data comprises streaming the digital video data.

29. A storage medium in accordance with claim 24, further comprising:

securing the digital video data.

30. A storage medium in accordance with claim 24, wherein the step of sending the digital video data comprises sending the digital video data to the client device based on production priorities.
