Abstract

In one embodiment, a mobile data communication device operable to process redirected data items from a messaging system, wherein the data items include message attachments. The mobile data communication device includes one or more of the following: a structure for generating a command towards a redirector component associated with a messaging system to initiate redirection of user data items over a wireless network for a user associated with the mobile data communication device; a structure for receiving at least a portion of a data item redirected from the messaging system over the wireless network; and a structure for generating a request towards the redirector component for more of the data item.

Claims

1. A mobile data communication device, comprising:

means for generating a command towards a redirector component associated with a messaging system to initiate redirection of user data items over a wireless network for a user associated with the mobile data communication device;

means for receiving at least a portion of a data item redirected from the messaging system over the wireless network; and

means for generating a request towards the redirector component for more of the data item.

2. The mobile data communication device as recited in claim 1, further comprising means for processing an attachment associated with the data item, the attachment being received in response to the request.

3. The mobile data communication device as recited in claim 2, wherein the attachment comprises at least one of a text document, a video attachment, an audio attachment, an image attachment.
