Abstract

For a wireless network, a tuning system in which mobile phones using the network are routinely located. With the location of the mobile phones identified, load adjustments for the system are easily accomplished so that the wireless network is not subject to an overload situation. Ideally the location of the mobile phones is accomplished whether the mobile phones are transmitting voice data or not.

Claims

1. A wireless network tuning system comprising:

a) at least two mobile phones, each mobile phone communicating via radio waves;

b) a first computer programmed to,

1) routinely identify a location and signal characteristic data for each of said at least two mobile phones,

2) routinely storing the location and signal characteristic data in a memory, and

c) a radio frequency antenna adapted to receive signals from said at least two mobile phones; and

wherein said first computer further includes means for controlling said radio frequency antenna based upon the location and signal characteristic data within said memory.

2. The wireless network according to claim 1, wherein,

a) said radio frequency antenna generates an error message based upon operation of said radio frequency antenna;

and,

b) said first computer is further programmed to,

1) receive said error message from said radio frequency antenna, and,

2) selectively restrict said radio frequency antenna from processing radio signals from at least one of said at least two mobile phones based upon said error message.

3. The wireless network according to claim 2,

a) further including a second radio frequency antenna;

and,

b) wherein said first computer is programmed, based upon said error message, to direct said second radio frequency antenna process signals from at least one of said at least two mobile phones based upon said error message.

4. The wireless network according to claim 3, wherein said first computer is further programmed to perform a diagnostic routine on said radio frequency antenna and the second radio frequency antenna, and generate a diagnostic analysis therefrom.

5. The wireless network according to claim 4, wherein said first computer is programmed to adjust operating characteristics of said radio frequency antenna in response to said error message.

6. The wireless network according to claim 5, wherein the operating characteristic of said radio frequency antenna includes power transmission of said radio frequency antenna.

7. The wireless network according to claim 4, wherein said first computer is programmed to transmit said diagnostic analysis to a user of a second computer.

8. The wireless network according to claim 1, wherein said first computer is programmed to communicate the location of a selected one of said at least two mobile phones to a user.

9. The wireless network according to claim 8, wherein said first computer is programmed to display a location of each of said at least two mobile phones.

10. The wireless network according to claim 9, wherein the display of a location of each of said at least two mobile phones is presented in graphical form on a map.

11. The wireless network according to claim 10, wherein said graphical display includes identification of a location of said radio frequency antenna.

12. The wireless network according to claim 1,

a) wherein each of said at least two mobile phones generates an error signal;

and,

b) wherein said first computer is programmed to receive the error signal from each of said at least two mobile phones.

13. The wireless network according to claim 12, wherein said first computer is programmed to present a graphical display identifying each of said at least two mobile phones by location and by error signal.

14. The wireless network according to claim 12, wherein said first computer is programmed to, in response to the error signal from one of said at least two mobile phones, a message identifying the error signal and suggested corrections thereto.

15. The wireless network according to claim 12, wherein said first computer is programmed to adjust operating characteristics of said radio frequency antenna in response to said error signal.

16. The wireless network according to claim 15, wherein the operating characteristic of said radio frequency antenna includes power transmission of said radio frequency antenna.

17. The wireless network according to claim 1,

a) further including a second computer generating a status request;

and,

b) wherein said first computer is programmed to send the location of one of said at least two mobile phones in response to said status request.

18. The wireless network according to claim 17, wherein said first computer is programmed to identify said second computer and generate an authorization indicia therefrom.

19. The wireless network according to claim 17,

a) wherein a user of one of said at least two mobile phones is able to set a no access flag within said first computer;

and,

b) wherein said first computer is programmed to deny the status request from said second computer if said no access flag is set.

20. A wireless network tuning system comprising:

a) at least two mobile phones, each mobile phone communicating via radio waves;

b) a first computer programmed to,

1) routinely identify a location and signal characteristic data for each of said at least two mobile phones,

2) routinely storing the location and signal characteristic data in a memory, and

c) a radio frequency antenna adapted to receive and send signals from and to said at least two mobile phones; and

,

wherein said first computer further includes means for controlling said radio frequency antenna.

21. The wireless network according to claim 20, wherein,

a) said radio frequency antenna generates an error message based upon operation of said radio frequency antenna;

and,

b) said first computer is further programmed to selectively restrict said radio frequency antenna from processing radio signals from at least one of said at least two mobile phones based upon said error message and the location and signal characteristic data within said memory.

22. The wireless network according to claim 20,

a) wherein each of said at least two mobile phones generates an error signal;

and,

b) wherein said first computer is programmed to receive the error signal from each of said at least two mobile phones.

23. The wireless network according to claim 22, wherein said first computer is programmed to, on a map, present a graphical display identifying each of said at least two mobile phones by location and by error signal.

24. The wireless network according to claim 23, wherein said first computer is programmed to adjust operating characteristics of said radio frequency antenna in response to said error signal.

25. The wireless network according to claim 20,

a) further including a second computer generating a status request;

b) wherein a user of one of said at least two mobile phones is able to set a no access flag within the memory of said first computer; and

,

c) wherein said first computer is programmed to deny the status request from said second computer if said no access flag is set.
