1. A method for providing multi-factor authentication for payment transactions using a mobile device, the method comprising:
- receiving, from the mobile device, an initiation request for establishing a voice connection resulting in the receipt of a device identifier associated with the mobile device;
determining if the device identifier corresponds to a registered device identifier;
establishing the voice connection with the mobile device;
receiving through the voice connection a voice sample of a consumer associated with the mobile device;
comparing the voice sample with a registered voice sample associated with the mobile device;
converting the voice sample into a text sequence;
comparing at least a portion of the text sequence with a registered text sequence associated with the mobile device;
generating an authorization identifier to be presented by the consumer at a point of transaction; and
transmitting the authorization identifier to the mobile device.
