Abstract

An information apparatus with access to content is managed by establishing a communication channel between the information apparatus and an output device and receiving over the communication channel an output device profile associated with the output device. The information apparatus obtains one or more image attributes associated with the output device and conforms at least part of the content into one or more output images with the image attributes. The information apparatus generates an output data that includes the output images and is associated with the output device, and delivers the output data to the output device for rendering.

22. Data output controller method associated with a wireless controller that controls interaction between an output device and one or more wireless information apparatus in connection with the output device rendering content accessed with the one or more wireless information apparatus, the one or more wireless information apparatus being distinct devices from the output device and the controller, the wireless controller method comprising:

managing at the controller a wireless communication channel with the one or more wireless information apparatus;

providing at the controller and over the wireless communication channel at least an output device profile associated with the output device; and

receiving at the controller and over the wireless communication channel with the one or more wireless information apparatus an output data for rendering at the output device, said output data corresponding to at least part of the content and being conformed at least in part with the output device profile.

23. The method of claim 22 wherein the output device is one of a printing device, a display device and an audio output device.

24. The method of claim 22 further comprising posting or broadcasting over the wireless communication channel the availability of the output device so that the output device can be discovered by the one or more information apparatus.

The method of claim 22 wherein the output data includes one or more images or graphics data and the method further comprising performing one or more image operations at the controller on the intermediate output data, the one or more image processing operations includes one or more of a color correction operation, a color matching operation, a color management operation, a scaling operation, an interpolation operation, a color space conversion, a compression operation, a decompression operation, an encryption, a decryption, and a halftoning operation.

26. In a computer readable medium, data output controller software associated with a controller that controls wireless interaction between an output device and a wireless information apparatus in connection with the output device rendering content accessed with the information apparatus, the information apparatus being a distinct device from the output device and the controller, the medium comprising:

software for storing at least part of an attribute related to the output device;

software for establishing a wireless communication channel with the information apparatus;

software for providing over the wireless communication channel and to the information apparatus at least an indication related to one or more attributes related to the output device;

software for receiving over the wireless communication channel and from the information apparatus an intermediate output data that includes at least data in a data format that is related to the said one or more attributes, the intermediate output data corresponding to at least part of the content.

27. The medium of claim 26 wherein the wireless communication channel is one of a Bluetooth, an infrared, a IEEE 802.XXX and a wireless standard based on 2.4 GHz frequency.

The medium of claim 26 wherein the intermediate output data includes an image and the medium further comprising software for performing one or more image processing operations on the one or more output images included in the intermediate output data, the one or more image processing operations includes one or more of a color correction operation, a color matching operation, a color management operation, a scaling operation, an interpolation operation, a color space conversion, a decompression, a compression, an encryption, an encryption, a decryption, and a halftoning operation.

29. The medium of claim 26 further comprising software for conforming the intermediate output data into an output data that is acceptable for rendering by an output engine included in the output device.

30. The medium of claim 26 in which the output controller software is included in one of a server, an external station, a board, a card, and a data access point distinct from the output device.

31. The medium of claim 26 further comprising controller software for calculating and collecting payment information as compensation for rendering of the content by the output device, and software for transmitting the payment information from the controller to the information apparatus.

32. The medium of claim 26 further comprising controller software for implementing job management functionalities with one or more of data output job queuing and spooling.

33. The medium of claim 26 further comprising software for posting or broadcasting wirelessly the availability of the output device so that the output device can be discovered by the one or more information apparatus.

The medium as of claim 26 further comprising software for providing over the wireless communication channel information related to one or more of an output device identification, an intermediate output data indicator, a quality of service indicator, a price indicator, a status indicator, an output device attribute, a rasterization parameter, a format indicator, a language indicator and an indication for the method of wireless communication.

35. The medium of claim 26 further comprising controller software for implementing authentication procedures for establishing a secure wireless communication and or for limiting access to the rendering service provided by the output device.

36. A wireless data output controller that controls wireless interaction between an output device and one or more wireless information apparatus in connection with the output device rendering content accessed with the one or more information apparatus, the one or more information apparatus being a distinct device from the output device and the controller, the controller comprising:

means for managing at the controller a wireless communication channel with the one or more information apparatus;

means for enabling the output device to be discovered wirelessly by the one or more information apparatus;

means for providing at the controller and over the wireless communication channel at least an indication related to the output device in connection with rendering content at the output device; and

means for receiving at the controller and over the wireless communication channel an output data for rendering at the output device, the output data corresponding to at least part of the content and includes one or more data formats.

37. The controller of claim 36 further comprising means to receive and or provide security key over the wireless communication channel for enabling secured wireless communication.

38. The controller of claim 36 wherein the wireless communication channel is one of a Bluetooth, an infrared, a IEEE 802.11 and a wireless standard based on 2.4 GHz frequency.

39. The controller of claim 36 wherein the controller is externally to the output device and the output device is one of a printing device, a display device and an audio device.

40. The controller of claim 36 wherein the controller is one of a server, an external station, a board, a card, and a data access point distinct from the output device.

41. The controller of claim 36 wherein the controller is included in the output device, and the output device is one of a printing device, a display device and an audio device.
