Continuous Feed Hypodermic Syringe with Self Contained Cartridge Dispenser
First Claim
1. A cartridge for dispensing a liquid comprising:
- a housing having a channel extending therethrough and including a first membrane sealing a first end thereof and a second membrane sealing a second end thereof;
a reservoir positioned within the housing for retaining the liquid, said first membrane forming an end of said reservoir;
a hollow needle positioned between an end of said reservoir and said second membrane for receiving the liquid therethrough; and
an accordion sleeve having a collapsible section and a tip section, said sleeve surrounding said needle when said accordion section is selectively collapsed, said needle is caused to extend from said tip section for penetrating an adjacent membrane and into a user and said liquid in said reservoir is forced through said needle and into the user.

Abstract
A hypodermic syringe and a plurality of single use cartridges able to be successively loaded into said syringe for providing rapid dispensing of a medicant to numerous users without possibility of contamination. The cartridges are continuously fed through the syringe for the quick and efficient inoculation of patients. An operator inserts a needle into a patient by pushing in a trigger. Prior to the needle being inserted into the patient, a disinfectant is dispersed from the cartridge to maintain sterility. An operator then pushes in a plunger forcing the medication through the needle into the patient. The plunger is pulled back into its original location after use. The needle is pulled back with the plunger out of the patient'"'"'s skin and back into the cartridge. A new cartridge on a clip is then advanced into the syringe for use in inoculating the next patient needing medication. The syringe and cartridge dispenser further maintains a sterile environment during successive vaccinations reducing the transmission of any disease from patient to patient.

6. An apparatus for continuously dispensing the contents of a plurality of cartridges in succession comprising:
-
a housing, said housing including a dispensing section, said dispensing section including a barrel extending along a length of said dispensing section for successively receiving a respective one of the plurality of cartridges containing a liquid therein;
means for dispensing the liquid contained in the cartridge; and
a handle section extending from said dispensing section for gripping by a user, said handle section including means for selectively activating said dispensing means to dispense the liquid contained in a respective cartridge positioned in said barrel. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9)

10. A method for dispensing the content of a cartridge in a syringe, comprising the steps of:
-
loading a cartridge including a medicant into the syringe;
manipulating a trigger of said syringe;
moving a piston of the syringe against a sleeve of the cartridge thereby puncturing a membrane at an end of the cartridge causing a disinfectant to be released onto a patient and a needle to be injected into the patient;
forcing a plunger and pressure plate forward against a sleeve within the cartridge;
causing a medicant contained within the cartridge to flow through the hollow needle;
delivering the medicant to said patient through said hollow needle;
pulling said plunger back to an initial position thereby returning the piston to its initial position and retracting said hollow needle inside said cartridge;
removing the spent cartridge from the syringe; and
reloading the syringe with an adjacent cartridge.
