1. A fuel injection system for a gas turbine engine, the system comprising:
- a fuel conveying member adapted to circulate fuel therethrough, the fuel conveying member having a joint receiving member; and
a heat shield substantially covering the fuel conveying member, the heat shield having at least one connection edge fastened to the joint receiving member by at least one welded joint, and at least one stress relieving feature defined along the connection edge at least one end of the welded joint.

13. A method of manufacturing a fuel injection system, the method comprising:

forming a fuel conveying member with a joint receiving member included thereon; forming at least one heat shield segment to surround the fuel conveying member; forming at least one stress relieving feature in each heat shield segment along a connection edge thereof, placing each heat shield segment around the fuel conveying member with the connection edge thereof adjacent the joint receiving member; and joining each connection edge to the joint receiving member by forming at least one welded joint with at least one end thereof disposed adjacent a corresponding one of the at least one stress relieving feature. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16)
