Abstract

In various embodiments, a player may participate in a game at a nearby gaming table via a mobile device.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

determining a first position of a mobile gaming device;

determining a second position of a first gaming table;

determining a first distance between the first position and the second position;

transmitting, based on the first distance, an offer to the mobile gaming device to commence play at the first gaming table;

receiving from the mobile gaming device an indication of a desire to commence play;

receiving from the mobile gaming device an indication of a bet amount;

receiving from the first gaming table an indication of a final outcome of a game;

transmitting the indication of the final outcome of the game to the mobile gaming device;

determining a payout amount based on the bet amount and the final outcome of the game; and

modifying a credit balance associated with the mobile gaming device based on the bet amount and based on the payout amount.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising transmitting to the first gaming table the indication of the desire to commence play.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving from the first gaming table an indication of an intermediate outcome of the game;

transmitting to the mobile gaming device the indication of the intermediate outcome of the game;

receiving from the mobile gaming device an indication of a game decision; and

transmitting the game decision to the first gaming table,

in which the final outcome is based on the intermediate outcome and the game decision.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining a third position of a second gaming table; and

determining a second distance between the first position and the third position,

in which transmitting an offer includes transmitting, if the first distance is less than the second distance, an offer to the mobile gaming device to commence play at the first gaming table.

5. A method comprising:

receiving an indication that a gaming table is proximate;

displaying a first credit balance;

transmitting to a casino server an indication of a bet amount;

receiving from the gaming table a first indication of an outcome;

displaying a second indication of the outcome; and

displaying a second credit balance, the second credit balance determined based on the first credit balance, the bet amount, and the outcome.

6. The method of claim 5 in which receiving an indication that a gaming table is proximate includes detecting a signal from a radio frequency identification tag associated with the gaming table.

7. The method of claim 5 in which receiving an indication that a gaming table is proximate includes:

receiving an indication of a current position; and

correlating the current position with a known position of the gaming table.

8. The method of claim 5 further comprising:

displaying an offer to commence play in a game of the gaming table;

receiving an indication of acceptance of the offer; and

receiving an indication of the bet amount.

9. A method comprising:

receiving from a mobile gaming device an indication of a desire to participate in a game;

determining a final outcome of the game; and

transmitting to the mobile gaming device an indication of the final outcome of the game.

10. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

determining an intermediate outcome of the game;

transmitting to the mobile gaming device an indication of the intermediate outcome;

receiving from the mobile gaming device an indication of a game decision,

in which determining the final outcome includes determining the final outcome of the game based on the intermediate outcome and the game decision.

11. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

receiving from the mobile gaming device an indication of a bet amount;

determining a payout based on the bet amount and the final outcome of the game; and

transmitting an indication of the payout to the mobile device.

12. The method of claim 9 in which determining the final outcome of the game includes determining a set of physical cards that have been dealt.

13. The method of claim 9 in which determining the final outcome of the game includes determining a number that has been rolled on a physical die.
