Abstract

A method for associating a characterization attribute with a document in a computerized system is disclosed, the method comprising providing a primary insertion of a document associating at least one intrinsic characterization attribute with the document, and providing a secondary insertion of the document associating at least one extrinsic characterization attribute with the document. A method for changing the level of details of a document representation in accordance with a magnification of the document representation is also disclosed. A machine readable medium containing machine executable instructions providing a method for building a multi-user document vector is also disclosed, the method comprising a first plurality of documents associated with a first user, a second plurality of documents associated with a second user and a multi-user document vector comprising the first plurality of documents and the second plurality of documents.

Claims

1. A method for associating a characterization attribute with a document in a computerized system, the method comprising:

providing a primary insertion of a document associating at least one intrinsic characterization attribute with the document; and

providing a secondary insertion of the document associating at least one extrinsic characterization attribute with the document.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing an annotation associated with the document.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the annotation is graphically associated with a visual representation of the document.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the extrinsic characterization attribute is graphically associated with the document.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the extrinsic characterization attribute is selectable.

6. A method for changing the level of details of a document comprising:

providing first visual representation of a document, the first visual representation providing a first level of details of the document;

magnifying the first visual representation of the document to cross a first magnifying threshold;

providing a second visual representation of the document, the second visual representation providing a second level of details of the document, the second level of details providing more detail than the first level of details;

magnifying the second visual representation of the document to cross a second magnifying threshold; and

providing a third visual representation of the document, the third visual representation providing a third level of details of the document, the third level of details providing more detail than the second level of details.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the first level of details is an icon, the second level of details is a vignette depicting a small visual representation of the document and the third level of details is a large visual representation of the document.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the vignette is selectable to display a plurality of characterization attributes associated with the document.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the large visual representation of the document is associated with a plurality of corresponding characterization attributes.

10. A machine readable medium containing machine executable instructions providing a method for building a multi-user document vector, the method comprising:

a first plurality of documents associated with a first user;

a second plurality of documents associated with a second user; and

a multi-user document vector comprising the first plurality of documents and the second plurality of documents.

The machine readable medium of claim 10, wherein the first plurality of documents on the multi-user document vector is associated with a first user characterization attribute and the second plurality of documents on the multi-user document vector is associated with a second user characterization attribute.

12. The machine readable medium of claim 12, wherein the first user relates to a corporation and wherein at least one document associated with the first user on the multi-user document vector is associated with the position of first user in the corporation.

13. The machine readable medium of claim 12, wherein the multi-user document vector is adapted to enable a corporate document vector.

14. The machine readable medium of claim 12, wherein the position of the first user in the corporation is identifiable on a corporate organizational chart.
