Abstract

In various embodiments, promotions are featured on mobile gaming devices.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving, from a mobile gaming device, a wireless signal; and

outputting, in response to the received signal, an advertisement,

wherein the advertisements comprises at least one of video and audio.

2. The method of claim 1 further including:

determining from the received signal whether the mobile gaming device is within a predetermined distance,

in which outputting includes outputting, in response to the received signal, an advertisement only if the mobile gaming device is within the predetermined distance.

3. The method of claim 1 further including:

determining from the received signal whether the mobile gaming device is within a predetermined location,

in which outputting includes outputting, in response to the received signal, an advertisement only if the mobile gaming device is within the predetermined location.

4. The method of claim 1 further including:

determining, based on the received signal, information about a player of the mobile gaming device; and

determining the advertisement based on the information about the player.

5. The method of claim 1 in which the wireless signal encodes the advertisement.

6. The method of claim 1 in which the wireless signal identifies the advertisement.

7. The method of claim 1 in which the wireless signal encodes information about a player of the mobile gaming device.

8. The method of claim 7, further including determining the advertisement based on the information about the player.

9. The method of claim 1 in which the signal identifies a mechanism to access information about a player of the mobile gaming device.

10. The method of claim 9, further including:

retrieving information about the player using the mechanism identified in the signal; and

determining the advertisement based on the information about the player.

11. An apparatus comprising:

a processor, and

a computer-readable medium that stores instructions,

in which the instructions, when executed by the processor, direct the processor to perform the method of claim 1.

12. A method comprising:

generating, for a game played with a wager on a mobile gaming device, an outcome;

determining a position of the mobile gaming device;

determining, if the position is within a predetermined distance of a retail establishment, a promotion which is based on the outcome, in which the promotion is for a product of the retail establishment; and

transmitting the promotion to the mobile gaming device.
