Abstract

Method and computer program product for locating events in-context over the Internet are disclosed. The method includes receiving a document from a user, wherein the document comprises one or more attributes, analyzing the one or more attributes of the document in accordance with a set of contextual information to generate one or more search terms, searching for events related to the one or more attributes of the document using the one or more search terms, and presenting the events to the user.

Claims

1. A method for locating events over the Internet, comprising:

receiving a document from a user, wherein the document comprises one or more attributes;

analyzing the one or more attributes of the document in accordance with a set of contextual information to generate one or more search terms;

searching for events related to the one or more attributes of the document using the one or more search terms; and

presenting the events to the user.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the document comprises at least one of:

text, image, graphics, URL, map, calendar, audio, and video.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the set of contextual information comprises:

user behavior, user preferences, and user environment.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein analyzing comprises:

analyzing context of the one or more attributes of the document, including sender and receiver of the document, location, time, and theme of the events being searched.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein searching for events comprises:

searching for events in accordance with user behavior, user preferences, and user environment.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein searching for events further comprises:

searching for events in accordance with context of the document.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein presenting the events comprises:

presenting the events in accordance with type of data to be displayed; and

presenting a personalized view of the events to be displayed.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein presenting the events further comprises:

presenting event venues dynamically in accordance with changes to the one or more attributes of the document; and

presenting additional selections of events to the user for conducting further searches.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein presenting the events further comprises:

presenting a user interface for conducting transactions, including purchasing tickets to the events.

10. A computer program product for locating events over the Internet, comprising a medium storing computer programs for execution by one or more computer systems, the computer program product comprising:

code for receiving a document from a user, wherein the document comprises one or more attributes;

code for analyzing the one or more attributes of the document in accordance with a set of contextual information to generate one or more search terms;

code for searching for events related to the one or more attributes of the document using the one or more search terms; and

code for presenting the events to the user.

11. The computer program product of claim 10, wherein the document comprises at least one of:

text, image, graphics, URL, map, calendar, audio, and video.

12. The computer program product of claim 10, wherein the set of contextual information comprises:

user behavior, user preferences, and user environment.

13. The computer program product of claim 10, wherein the code for analyzing comprises:

code for analyzing context of the one or more attributes of the document, including sender and receiver of the document, location, time, and theme of the events being searched.

14. The computer program product of claim 10, wherein the code for searching for events comprises:

code for searching for events in accordance with user behavior, user preferences, and user environment.

15. The computer program product of claim 10, wherein the code for searching for events further comprises:

code for searching for events in accordance with context of the document.

16. The computer program product of claim 10, wherein the code for presenting the events comprises:

code for presenting the events in accordance with type of data to be displayed; and

code for presenting a personalized view of the events to be displayed.

17. The computer program product of claim 10, wherein the code for presenting the events further comprises:

code for presenting event venues dynamically in accordance with changes to the one or more attributes of the document; and

code for presenting additional selections of events to the user for conducting further searches.

18. The computer program product of claim 10, wherein the code for presenting the events further comprises:

code for presenting a user interface for conducting transactions, including purchasing tickets to the events.
