Abstract

A method for information management comprises applying a software architecture for a first hardware configuration; applying the software architecture for a second hardware configuration; wherein the software architecture includes: monitoring an output from an application; distributing packets; and storing the packets.

Claims

1. A method for information management comprising:

applying a software architecture for a first hardware configuration;

applying the software architecture for a second hardware configuration;

wherein the software architecture includes;

intercepting an output from an application to an operating system.

wherein the application and the operating system are on a same device;

generating a packet based on the intercepted output;

distributing the packet; and

storing the packet.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the output is substantially continuously monitored.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the packets are associated with at least one of:

XML, XDR, or TCP/IP.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first hardware configuration is a LAN configuration.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first hardware configuration includes a switch.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of monitoring or distributing is associated with an application server.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of monitoring or distributing is associated with a network attached storage.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of monitoring or distributing is associated with a data protection appliance.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of monitoring or distributing is associated with a switch.

21. The method of claim 1, wherein the packet includes metadata.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein the metadata includes at least one of:

a time, the application, or a computer system associated with the intercepted output.

23. The method of claim 1, wherein distributing the packet includes using a routing scheme.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the routing scheme includes at least one of network routing or SAN routing.

25. The method of claim 1 further comprising transforming the distributed packet, wherein storing includes storing the transformed packet.

26. The method of claim 25, wherein transforming includes transforming into a standard format.

27. The method of claim 25 further comprising filtering out information from the transformed packet, wherein the filtered information is stored.

28. The method of claim 1, wherein the output includes a change to data protected by backup and recovery.

18. A system for information management comprising:

a first hardware configuration for which a software architecture is applied;

a second hardware configuration for which the software architecture is applied;

wherein the software architecture includes;

intercepting an output from an application to an operating system, wherein the application and the operating system are on a same device;

generating a packet based on the intercepted output;

distributing the packet; and

storing the packet.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein intercepting is performed on a first device and storing is performed on a second device.

20. A computer program product for information management, the computer program product being embodied in a computer readable medium and comprising computer instructions for:

applying a software architecture for a first hardware configuration;

applying the software architecture for a second hardware configuration;

wherein the software architecture includes;

intercepting an output from an application to an operating system,

wherein the application and the operating system are on a same device;

generating a packet based on the intercepted output;

distributing the packet; and

storing the the packet.
