Abstract

A method is disclosed for providing a requested contents and associated contents to a user of a client computer system. A provider'"'"'s server receives a request from the client computer system to send a first object in an HTML page for display on the client computer system. The provider examines the requested first object and includes a related second object in the HTML page. The HTML page with both objects is then sent to the client computer system for display. In an alternative embodiment, the HTML page is sent to the user with code to receive and display one or more objects sent independently from a second server to the user based on the first content or on user action within the first content.

23. A method of providing a plurality of contents to a user of a client computer system comprising the steps of:

(a) receiving at a server a request from the client computer system to send a first content in a web page for display on a computer screen, said first content comprising of a plurality of objects;

(b) selecting guiding means in the first content wherein the guiding means causes the inclusion in the web page of a second content having at least one object related to at least one object of the plurality of objects of the first content; and

,

(c) sending the web page to the client computer system for display of the first content and the second content.

24. The method according to claim 23 wherein the first content is selected from a group consisting of text;

audio;

video;

an image;

a form; and

a link.

25. The method according to claim 23 wherein the first content is in a category selected from a group consisting of:

auction;

car sales;

realty;

sports;

news;

weather;

personal information;

personal preferences;

user'"'"'s preferences;

user'"'"'s location;

user'"'"'s pre-set information;

user previously visited web page;

login information; and

user previously viewed products page.

26. The method according to claim 23 wherein the guiding means is selected from a group consisting of:

matching words in the first content and the second content;

presence of a common embedded information in the first content and the second content;

presence of a common encoded information in the first content and the second content; and

presence of information that matches with information that was previously viewed by the user.

27. The method according to claim 23 wherein the first content and the second content reside at the same location.

28. The method according to claim 23 wherein the first content and the second content are at locations selected from a group consisting of a URL address, a folder, a database and a database table.

29. The method according to claim 23 further comprising the step of indexing the first content for later retrieval.

30. The method according to claim 23 further comprising the step of storing the first content for later retrieval.

31. A method of providing a plurality of contents to a user of a client computer system comprising the steps of:

(a) accessing a first content comprising of a plurality of objects;

(b) selecting guiding means from said first content for use in identifying a second content, wherein the second content has an object that is related to an object within the plurality of objects of the first content;

(c) identifying a related second content using the guiding means; and

,

(d) sending a web page to the client computer system, wherein the web page comprises the first content and the related second content.

32. The method according to claim 31 wherein the web page further comprises code to direct the client computer system to replace the second content with a third content upon user action with an object on the web page.

33. The method according to claim 32 wherein the user action is selected from a group consisting of:

selecting a link, and interacting with a form element.

34. The method according to claim 31 wherein the first content is selected from a group consisting of text;

audio;

video;

an image;

a form; and

a link.

35. The method according to claim 31 wherein the second content is selected from a group consisting of text;

audio;

video;

an image;

a form; and

a link.

36. The method according to claim 31 wherein the first content and the related content are information in a category selected from a group consisting of:

auction;

car sales;

realty;

sports;

news;

weather;

personal information;

personal preferences;

user'"'"'s preferences;

user'"'"'s location;

user'"'"'s pre-set information;

user previously visited web pages;

login information;

e-commerce; and

user previously viewed products page.

37. The method according to claim 31 wherein the second content is related to the first content by a characteristic selected from a group consisting of:

matching words in the first content and the second content;

presence of a common embedded information in the first content and the second content;

presence of a common encoded information in the first content and the second content; and

presence of information that matches with information that was previously viewed by the user.

38. The method according to claim 31 wherein the first content and the second content reside at the same location.

39. The method according to claim 31 wherein the first content and the identified second content are at locations selected from a group consisting of a URL address, a folder, a database and a database table.

40. The method according to claim 31 further comprising the step of receiving the first content from a third party host.

41. The method according to claim 40 further comprising the step of indexing the first content for later retrieval.

42. The method according to claim 40 further comprising the step of storing the first content for later retrieval.

43. The method according to claim 31 further comprising the step of indexing the first content for later retrieval.

44. The method according to claim 31 further comprising the step of storing the first content for later retrieval.

45. A method of providing a plurality of contents to a client computer system comprising the steps of:

(a) receiving a request from the client computer system to send a first content from a content host provider; and

(b) sending the first content together with code to the client computer system for display of the first content wherein the code enables the client computer system to request and receive associated second content from a server upon user action with an object within the first content.

46. The method according to claim 45 wherein the first object is selected from a group consisting of text;

audio;

video;

an image;

a form; and

a link.

47. The method according to claim 45 wherein the associated second object is selected from a group consisting of text;

audio;

video;

an image;

a form; and

a link.

48. The method according to claim 45 wherein the associated second content is related to the first content by a characteristic selected from a group consisting of:

matching words in the first object and the second object;

presence of a common embedded information in the first object and the second object;

presence of a common encoded information in the first object and the second object;

e-commerce; and

presence of information that matches with information that was previously viewed by the user.

49. The method according to claim 45 wherein the first content and the associated second content reside at the same location.

50. The method according to claim 45 wherein the first content and the associated second content are at locations selected from a group consisting of a URL address, a folder, a database and a database table.

51. The method according to claim 45 wherein the user action is selected from a group consisting of:

selection of a link, selection of a drop down list, and interaction with form a element.
