Abstract

Scorecard data including scorecard views, and the like are exported to a presentation application for generating a presentation based on the scorecard data. Briefing book definitions are generated based on the scorecard data, default parameters and user-defined parameters for providing a user selections for the presentations. Using composite objects, scorecard and report views may be reformatted, resized, laid out, and paginated according to the presentation preferences. Once the user selections are received the presentation may be rendered generating charts based on the data, grouping and breaking down views, incorporating unstructured data, and the like.

Claims

1. A method to be executed at least in part in a computing device for rendering a presentation based on a scorecard, the method comprising:

receiving data associated with the scorecard for exporting to a presentation application;

generating a briefing book comprising preliminary parts of the presentation based on at least one from a set of;

the received data, default parameters of the presentation application, and user-defined parameters associated with the presentation;

enabling a user to select among available parts of the presentation and redefine attributes of the selected parts of the presentation; and

in response to receiving user selection, rendering the presentation in form of a report book based on the received data, default parameters, and user-defined attributes for selected parts.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the received data includes at least one from a set of:

a partial scorecard view, a full scorecard view, a report view, and unstructured data.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the unstructured data includes at least one of:

comments and annotations associated with scorecard elements.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

modifying a presentation of one of the comments and annotations.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

subdividing a page of the presentation such that a plurality of pages are displayed within one page.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

caching the data associated with the scorecard such that a plurality of versions of the presentation can be rendered; and

enabling the presentation application to perform operations on the received data, wherein the operations include at least one from a set of;

reformatting, resizing, paginating, grouping, matching to a presentation theme, generating a chart based on the data, and generating one or more snapshots based on the data.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

enabling at least one graphics within the presentation to be compressed.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

enabling a plurality of parts of the presentation to be grouped by one of;

a metric of the scorecard and a dimension of the scorecard.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

enabling one of a scorecard view and a report view to be regimented by the presentation application.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing the briefing book to the user based on a permission infrastructure.

11. A system for rendering a presentation based on a scorecard, comprising:

a memory;

a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor is configured to execute instructions to perform actions including;

receive data associated with the scorecard for exporting to a presentation application, wherein the data includes at least one from a set of;

a partial scorecard view, a full scorecard view, a report view, and unstructured data;

auto-align and associate the data with a plurality of presentation parts;

generate set of definitions for the presentation parts based on at least one from a set of;

the received data, default parameters of the presentation application, and subscriber-defined parameters associated with the presentation;

present a subscriber selection options among available presentation parts and options for refining attributes of the selected presentation parts; and

in response to receiving the subscriber selections, enable the presentation application to render the presentation in form of a report book based on the received data, default parameters, and subscriber-redefined attributes for selected parts.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to receive the data from a plurality of data sources associated with a business logic service.

13. The system of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to provide different selection options to different subscribers based on a permission level of each subscriber.

14. The system of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to provide the data to the presentation application in Extensible Markup Language (XML) format.

15. The system of claim 22, wherein the processor if further configured to provide the rendered presentation to a predefined number of subscribers through one of an electronic mail, and instant message, and a download process.

16. A computer-readable storage medium with instructions stored thereon for rendering a presentation based on a scorecard, the instructions comprising:

retrieving data associated with the scorecard from a plurality of data sources for exporting to a presentation application;

auto-aligning the retrieved data to a predefined reporting structure;

associating the aligned data with a number of predefined reports, wherein the reports include at least one from a set of;

a scorecard view, a chart, and a table;

generating a briefing book comprising the predefined reports based on at least on from a set of;

the received data, default parameters of the present application, and user-defined parameters associated with the presentation;

providing a user the briefing book for selecting among available parts for the presentation and attributes of the selected parts of the presentation; and

in response to receiving the user selections, rendering the presentation.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the instructions further comprise:

reformatting and resizing the reports based on an attribute of the presentation.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the presentation includes one of:

a slide presentation file, an image file, a graphics file, and a composite document file.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the instructions further comprise:

grouping the reports based on at least one from a set of;

the user selections, an attribute of the presentation, and the reporting structure.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the reports are provided to the presentation application as composite objects.
