Abstract

A method for executing a management operation by a terminal in a communications system. The method comprises the followings: The terminal receives the management operation commands that indicate the operation to target operation nodes in the device capability management object and operates them. The said operation initiates the process for executing the corresponding device capability management operation, then the said management operation transfers the device capability status. Also, the corresponding terminal and system are disclosed. The present invention can centrally manage and control the terminal capability.

Claims

1. A method for a terminal to execute a management operation in a communication system, comprising:

operating, by the terminal, a target operation node in a device capability management object as instructed in a management operation command received by the terminal; and

triggering, by the operation for the target operation node, execution of a corresponding device capability management operation, wherein the device capability management operation transits status of a device capability of the terminal.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the management operation command received by the terminal is from a device management server with a device management authority higher than that of the user.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein

the target operation node is an executable node and the operation for the target operation node is to execute contents of the target operation node;

or

the target operation node is an indicator node and the operation for the target operation node is to modify the value of the target operation node as instructed in the management operation command.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the triggering of the execution of the corresponding device capability management operation comprises

the operation for the target operation node triggering execution of the corresponding device capability management operation determined as valid.

5. The method according to claim 4, wherein conditions for determining whether the device capability management operation is valid comprise at least current status of the device capability of the terminal.

6. The method according to claim 5, wherein the device capability management operation determined as valid comprises:

Start operation, Temp Disable operation, Keep Disable operation or Remove operation in the case that the current status of the device capability of the terminal is Enable status;

or

Stop operation in the case that the current status of the device capability of the terminal is Start status;

or

Enable operation or Keep Disable operation in the case that the current status of the device capability of the terminal is Temp Disable status;

or

Enable operation or Keep Disable operation in the case that the current status of the device capability of the terminal is Keep Disable status;

or

Enable operation or Update operation in the case that the current status of the device capability of the terminal is Ready status.

7. The method according to claim 5, wherein the conditions for determining whether the device capability management operation is valid further comprise information on the initiator of the management operation command.

8. The method according to claim 7, wherein after operating the target operation node in the device capability management object as instructed in the management operation command, the method further comprises:

not executing the device capability management operation when the device capability management operation corresponding to the operation for the target operation node is determined as invalid according to the current status of the device capability of the terminal and the information on the initiator of the management operation command.

9. The method according to claim 8, wherein

conditions in which the device capability management operation is determined as invalid comprise:

the current status of the device capability of the terminal is Keep Disable status and the initiator of the management operation command is the user.

10. The method according to claim 5, wherein the conditions for determining whether the device capability management operation is valid further comprise an authentication code provided by a party initiating the management operation command.

11. The method according to claim 1, wherein

the device capability management operation is to execute an Update operation, a Remove operation, a Start operation, an Enable operation, a Stop operation, a Temp Disable operation or a Keep Disable operation;

and

the transiting of the status of the device capability of the terminal comprises;

transiting, by the executed device capability management operation, the status of the device capability to Ready status when the device capability management operation is an Update operation or a Remove operation;

transiting, by the executed device capability management operation, the status of the device capability to Start status when the device capability management operation is a Start operation;

transiting, by the executed device capability management operation, the status of the device capability to Enable status when the device capability management operation is an Enable operation or a Stop operation;

transiting, by the executed device capability management operation, the status of the device capability to Temp Disable status when the device capability management operation is Temp Disable operation;

transiting, by the executed device capability management operation, the status of the device capability to Keep Disable status when the device capability management operation is Keep Disable operation.

12. The method according to claim 1, wherein when the executed device capability management operation is a Start operation or a Stop operation, the transiting of the status of the device capability of the terminal comprises:

transiting, by the device capability management operation, the status of the device capability by means of an application programming interface.

13. A terminal for executing a management operation, wherein the terminal comprises a device management agent unit and a device capability management agent unit, wherein

the device management agent unit is adapted to operate a target operation node in a device capability management object as instructed in a management operation command received by the device management agent unit;

and

the device capability management agent unit is adapted to execute a device capability management operation corresponding to the operation for the target operation node performed by the device management agent unit, wherein the device capability management operation is adapted to transit status of a device capability of the terminal.

The terminal according to claim 13, wherein the device management agent unit is adapted to operate the target operation node in the device capability management object as instructed in the management operation command received from a device management server with a device management authority higher than that of the user.

15. The terminal according to claim 13, wherein the target operation node is an indicator node, and the operation for the target operation node performed by the device management agent unit is to modify the value of the target operation node;

and

the terminal further comprises;

a monitoring unit adapted to monitor the value of the target operation node in the device capability management object, and upon detection of a change in the value of the target operation node, instructs the device capability management agent unit to execute the device capability management operation corresponding to the operation for the target operation node.

The terminal according to claim 13, wherein the device capability management operation executed by the device capability management agent unit is an Update or Remove operation that is adapted to transit the status of the device capability to Ready status, a Start operation that is adapted to transit the status of the device capability to Start status, or an Enable or Stop operation that is adapted to transit the status of the device capability to Enable status, a Temp Disable operation that is adapted to transit the status of the device capability to Temp Disable status, or a Keep Disable operation that is adapted to transit the status of the device capability to Keep Disable status.

17. The terminal according to claim 13, wherein the device capability management agent unit comprises:

a validity determining unit adapted to determine whether the device capability management operation corresponding to the operation for the target operation node performed by the device management agent unit is valid;

a device capability management operation executing unit adapted to execute the device capability management operation when the device capability management operation is determined as valid by the validity determining unit.

18. The terminal according to claim 17, wherein the validity determining unit comprises:

an obtaining unit adapted to obtain information on current status of the device capability, information on an initiator of the management operation command and information on the device capability management operation corresponding to the operation for the target operation node performed by the device management agent unit;

a status identifying unit adapted to identify the current status of the device capability of the terminal from the information on the status of the device capability provided by the obtaining unit;

an initiator identifying unit adapted to identify whether the initiator is a device management server or the user from the information on the initiator in the management operation command provided by the obtaining unit;

a management operation identifying unit adapted to identify the device capability management operation corresponding to the operation for the target operation node performed by the device management agent unit from the information on the device capability management operation provided by the obtaining unit;

an authority determining unit adapted to determine whether the device capability management operation corresponding to the operation for the target operation node performed by the device management agent unit is valid according to the obtained determining conditions comprising the information provided by the status identifying unit, the initiator identifying unit and the management operation identifying unit; and

a device capability management operation executing unit adapted to execute the device capability management operation when the device capability management operation is determined as valid by the authority determining unit.

19. A communication system for implementing terminal management, comprising a terminal and a device management server, wherein

the device management server is adapted to send a management operation command to the terminal, wherein the management operation command contains instruction information instructing the terminal to operate a target operation node in a device capability management object;

the terminal comprises a device management agent unit and a device capability management agent unit;

wherein

the device management agent unit is adapted to operate the target operation node in the device capability management object as instructed in the received management operation command; and

the device capability management agent unit is adapted to execute a device capability management operation corresponding to the operation for the target operation node performed by the device management agent unit, wherein the device capability management operation is adapted to transit status of a device capability of the terminal.

20. The system according to claim 19, wherein the system further comprises a device capability management agent server, wherein the management operation command sent from the device management server to the terminal is from the device capability management agent server, and

the device capability management agent server is adapted to generate a corresponding management operation command from a device capability management operation request from an external system, and send the management operation command to the device management server.
