Abstract

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media provide for the detection, location stamping, and logging of electronic events and subsequent generation of habitat information. According to implementations, electronic events are detected and location stamped. Associated descriptions and other data corresponding to the electronic events is retrieved and stored along with the geographic locations of the electronic events in an activity log. The information in the activity log is used to generate visual representations of one or more geographic areas in which electronic events that meet user-defined or default criteria occurred within a predetermined frequency.

Claims

1. A method for logging electronic events associated with a mobile device, comprising:

receiving an event indicator representing an occurrence of an electronic event;

in response to receiving the event indicator, retrieving location information associated with the mobile device; and

creating a data entry comprising the event locator and corresponding location information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the electronic event comprises a telephone call.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the electronic event comprises a data message.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the electronic event comprises detection of an external device by the mobile device.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the electronic event comprises media creation by the mobile device.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the electronic event comprises media playback by the mobile device.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

retrieving an event description associated with the event indicator; and

storing the event description and the location information in an entry of an activity log.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising storing a date and a time associated with the electronic event and a pointer to any data file created as a result of the electronic event in the entry of the activity log.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the activity log comprises a plurality of entries, each entry comprising an event description corresponding to an occurrence of an electronic event, associated location information, and date and time information associated with the occurrence of the electronic event.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising designating the location information corresponding to each activity log entry event description on a geographic map.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising grouping location information on the map according to information categories within the activity log to create at least one habitat.

12. A method of generating a user habitat, comprising:

retrieving a plurality of entries within an activity log, wherein each entry comprises a geographic location and a plurality of electronic event descriptors corresponding to an electronic event;

positioning a location designator on a map corresponding to the geographic location stored with each of the plurality of entries within the activity log; and

representing a plurality of the location designators as a habitat according to selected activity log entry criteria.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein each electronic event comprises an action recordable by a wireless electronic device associated with the user.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the electronic event descriptors corresponding to the electronic event comprise a date and a time that the electronic event occurred and a description of the electronic event.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the one of the electronic event descriptors corresponding to the electronic event comprises an indication as to whether an electronic device associated with a known party was within proximity to the user when the electronic event occurred.

16. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

receiving a selection of activity log entry criteria for generating the habitat; and

identifying the habitat according to the selected activity log entry criteria.

17. A computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions stored thereon which, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to:

record a plurality of instances of electronic events associated with a wireless device;

record a geographic location associated with each instance;

correlate the geographic location of each instance with the electronic events on a map to create a habitat; and

display the at least one habitat on the map.

18. The computer-readable medium of claim 17, further comprising computer-executable instructions stored thereon which, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to:

retrieve electronic event information associated with each instance of each electronic event; and

record the electronic event information with the geographic location associated with each instance in an activity log.

19. The computer-readable medium of claim 18, wherein causing the computer to correlate the geographic location of each instance with the electronic events on a map to create a habitat comprises causing the computer to:

receive habitat generating criteria defining the parameters for generating the habitat according to the electronic event information and the geographic location associated with each instance in the activity log;

select the electronic events and corresponding geographic locations associated with each instance of the selected electronic events according to the habitat generating criteria; and

designate an area on the map encompassing the selected geographic locations as the habitat.

20. The computer-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the habitat generating criteria comprises a frequency threshold of event occurrence.
