Abstract

In an antenna for a level meter employing the radar principle, a fastening device is provided for detachably mounting a dielectric insert in the antenna. The fastening device may be a continuous clamping collar that clamps the dielectric insert in place in the antenna. This offers a simple, universally employable possibility for fastening a dielectric insert in the antenna.

Claims

1. An antenna for a level meter employing the radar principle, with a dielectric insert, wherein a fastening device is provided for the removable attachment of the dielectric insert in the antenna.

2. The antenna as in claim 1, wherein the antenna is of metal.

3. The antenna as in claim 1 or 2, wherein the antenna is a horn antenna.

4. The antenna as in claim 1 or 2, wherein the dielectric insert completely fills the interior space of the antenna.

5. The antenna as in claim 1 or 2, wherein the fastening device is a clamping collar which clamps the dielectric insert in place in the antenna.

6. The antenna as in claim 5, wherein a clamping recess is provided in the antenna which is engaged by the clamping collar.

7. The antenna as in claim 5, wherein the clamping collar is integrally molded onto the dielectric insert.

8. The antenna as in claim 5, wherein said dielectric insert has an outer circumference and the clamping collar extends around said circumference.

9. The antenna as in claim 5, wherein the clamping collar is an O-ring positioned between the inner wall of the antenna and the outer wall of the dielectric insert.

10. The antenna as in claim 1 or 2, wherein the fastening device is a screw connection between the outer wall of the dielectric insert and the inner wall of the antenna.

11. The antenna as in claim 1 or 2, wherein the fastening device is a set screw that extends through a wall of the antenna and presses on an outer wall of the dielectric insert.

12. The antenna as in claim 1 or 2, wherein the fastening device is a spring assembly provided on an inner wall of the antenna and which presses against an outer wall of the dielectric insert.
