Abstract

An apparatus for processing a signal and method thereof are disclosed. Data coding and entropy coding are performed with interconnection, and grouping is used to enhance coding efficiency. The present invention includes the steps of obtaining difference information and entropy-decoding the difference information according to an entropy coding scheme including time grouping and frequency grouping and data-decoding the difference information according to a data decoding scheme including a pilot difference, a time difference and a frequency difference.

Claims

1. A method of processing a signal, comprising:

obtaining difference information from the signal;

entropy-decoding the difference information according to an entropy coding scheme including time grouping and frequency grouping; and

data-decoding the entropy-decoded difference information according to a data coding scheme including a pilot difference, a time difference and a frequency difference.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein if the entropy coding scheme includes the frequency grouping, and if the data coding scheme includes the pilot difference, performing one-dimensional entropy coding on the pilot reference and performing two-dimensional entropy coding on the pilot difference value.

The method of claim 1, wherein if the entropy coding scheme includes the frequency grouping, and if the data coding scheme includes a frequency difference and a time difference, performing one-dimensional entropy coding on a first frequency band of the frequency difference and performing two-dimensional entropy coding a first frequency band of the time difference.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein if the entropy coding scheme includes the frequency grouping, and if the data coding scheme includes a frequency difference, performing one-dimensional entropy coding on a first frequency band of the frequency difference.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein if the entropy coding scheme includes the time grouping, and if the data coding scheme includes a frequency difference and a time difference, performing one-dimensional entropy coding on a first frequency band of the time difference.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein if the entropy coding scheme includes the time grouping and if the data coding scheme includes the frequency difference and the time difference, performing one-dimensional entropy coding on a last frequency band that is not grouped.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein if the entropy coding scheme includes the time grouping, then at least some frequency bands are grouped.

8. A method of processing a signal, comprising the steps of:

obtaining a digital signal;

entropy-decoding the digital signal according to an entropy coding scheme; and

data-decoding the entropy-decoded digital signal according to one of a plurality of data coding schemes including at least a pilot coding scheme,

wherein the entropy coding scheme is decided according to the data coding scheme.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the digital signal includes a reference value corresponding to a plurality of data and a difference value corresponding to the reference value, and wherein the method further includes the step of obtaining the data using the reference value and the data-decoded difference value.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising the step of entropy-decoding the reference value.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein entropy coding schemes used in entropy-decoding the reference value and the difference value are different from each other.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein entropy coding schemes used in entropy-decoding the reference value and the difference value are substantially similar to each other.

13. The method of claim 10, further comprising the step of obtaining an entropy coding identifier indicating the entropy coding scheme.

14. The method of claim 9, wherein the entropy coding scheme includes a one-dimensional entropy coding scheme and a two-dimensional entropy coding scheme.

15. The method of claim 9, wherein the reference value is a pilot reference value.

16. The method of claim 9, wherein the reference value is a difference reference value.

17. The method of claim 9, wherein the data coding scheme and the entropy coding scheme are independent from each other.

18. The method of claim 9, wherein the data coding scheme and the entropy coding scheme are dependent on each other.

19. The method of claim 15, wherein the pilot reference value is entropy-decoded by the one-dimensional entropy coding scheme.

20. The method of claim 14, wherein the multi-dimensional entropy coding scheme includes a frequency pair coding scheme and a time pair coding scheme.

21. The method of claim 18, wherein if the data coding scheme is applied to a plurality of the data having been grouped on a frequency domain, performing entropy decoding by a frequency pair coding scheme.

22. The method of claim 9, further comprising the step of reconstructing an audio signal using the data as parameters.

23. An apparatus for processing a signal, comprising:

a signal obtaining part configured for obtaining a digital signal;

an entropy decoding part configured for entropy-decoding the digital signal according to an entropy coding scheme; and

a data decoding part configured for decoding the entropy-decoded digital signal according to one of a plurality of data coding schemes including a pilot coding scheme at least,

wherein the entropy coding scheme is decided according to the data coding scheme.

24. A method of processing a signal, comprising the steps of:

data-encoding a digital signal by a data coding scheme;

entropy-encoding the encoded digital signal by an entropy coding scheme; and

transferring the entropy-encoded digital signal,

wherein the entropy coding scheme is decided according to the data coding scheme.

25. An apparatus for processing a signal, comprising:

a data encoding part configured for encoding a digital signal by a data coding scheme;

an entropy encoding part configured for entropy-encoding the data-encoded digital signal by an entropy coding scheme; and

an outputting part configured for transferring the entropy-encoded digital signal,

wherein the entropy coding scheme is decided according to the data coding scheme.
