Abstract

A memory lock system (900) is provided that includes: providing a controller (212); providing a connector (204) connected to the controller (212) for providing data to the controller (212); providing a memory (216) connected to the controller (212) for receiving and storing information from the controller (212); and manipulating an input device (206) connected to the controller (212) to unlock or lock data transfer between the connector (204) and the controller (212), in the controller (212), between the connector (204) and the memory (216), or in the memory (216).

Claims

1. A memory lock system (900) comprising:

providing a controller (212);

providing a connector (204) connected to the controller (212) for providing data to the controller (212);

providing a memory (216) connected to the controller (212) for receiving and storing information from the controller (212); and

manipulating an input device (206) connected to the controller (212) to unlock or lock data transfer between the connector (204) and the controller (212), in the controller (212), between the connector (204) and the memory (216), or in the memory (216).

2. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein manipulating the input device (206) includes inputting a combination to match a combination in the controller (212) to unlock or lock the data transfer.

3. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein manipulating the input device (206) includes inputting a new combination to change a combination in the controller (212) to unlock or lock the data transfer within a predetermined period of time.

4. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein manipulating the input device (206) includes activating a switch, potentiometer, encoder, touch sensitive device, voice sensitive device, key, or card.

5. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein providing the memory (216) includes recording the data on a solid state or a magnetic memory (216).

6. The system as claimed in claim 1 further comprises powering the controller (212) or the memory (216) by a battery (324), a power generator (510K), a solar cell (506J), or circuitry for obtaining power provided to the connector (204) to power the controller (212).

7. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein providing the controller (212) includes providing a data transfer function controller (213) and a locking function controller (215).

8. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein providing the controller (212) includes providing a data transfer function controller (213) for encrypting and de-encrypting data.

9. The system as claimed in claim 1 further comprising indicating the unlocking or locking of data transfer in visual, tactile, or audio format.

10. The system as claimed in claim 1 further comprising providing two-factor authentication (800) for controlling the unlocking or locking of data transfer in a secure memory system (301).

11. A memory lock system (200) comprising:

a controller (212);

a connector (204) connected to the controller (212) for providing data to the controller (212);

a memory (216) connected to the controller (212) for receiving and storing information from the controller (212);

a manipulatable input device (206) connected to the controller (212) to unlock or lock data transfer between the connector (204) and the controller (212), in the controller (212), between the connector (204) and the memory (216), or in the memory (216).

12. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the manipulatable input device (206) includes a device for entering a combination to match a combination in the controller (212) to unlock or lock the data transfer.

13. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the manipulatable input device (206) includes a device for entering a combination to change a combination in the controller (212) to unlock or lock the data transfer within a predetermined period of time.

14. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the manipulatable input device (206) includes a switch, potentiometer, encoder, touch sensitive device, voice sensitive device, key, or card.

15. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the memory (216) includes a solid state or a magnetic memory.

16. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprises a battery (324), a power generator (510K), a solar cell (506J), or circuitry for obtaining power provided to the connector (204) to power the controller (212).

17. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the controller (212) includes a data transfer function controller (213) and a locking function controller (215).

18. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the controller (212) includes a data transfer function controller (213) for encrypting and de-encrypting data.

19. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising an indicator (210) for indicating the unlocking or locking of data transfer in visual, tactile, or audio format.

20. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising:

a secure memory system (301) connectable to the controller (212); and

a two-factor authentication system (800) for controlling the unlocking or locking of data transfer in the secure memory system (301).

21. A memory lock system (200) comprising:

a data transfer function controller (213);

an locking function controller (215);

a connector (204) connected to the data transfer function controller (213) for providing data to the data transfer function controller (213);

a memory (216) connected to the data transfer function controller (213) for receiving and storing information from the data transfer function controller (213);

a manipulatable input device (206) connected to the locking function controller (215) to unlock or lock data transfer between the connector (204) and the data transfer function controller (213), in the data transfer function controller (213), between the connector (204) and the memory (216), or in the memory (216).

The system as claimed in claim 21 wherein the manipulatable input device (206) includes a device for entering a linear, rotational, numeric, alphabetical, alpha-numeric, color coded, or voice combination to match a combination in the locking function controller (215) to unlock or lock the data transfer.

The system as claimed in claim 21 wherein the manipulatable input device (206) includes a device for entering a linear, rotational, numeric, alphabetical, alpha-numeric, color coded, or voice combination to change a linear, rotational, numeric, alphabetical, alpha-numeric, color coded, or voice combination in the locking function controller (215) to unlock or lock the data transfer.

24. The system as claimed in claim 21 wherein the manipulatable input device (206) includes a rotary, linear, rocker, push-button switch, potentiometer, encoder, touch sensitive device, voice sensitive device, key, or card.

25. The system as claimed in claim 21 wherein the memory (216) includes a solid state or a rotary or linear magnetic memory (216).

26. The system as claimed in claim 21 further comprising:

a battery (324), a power generator (510K), a solar cell (506J), or circuitry for obtaining power provided to the connector (204) connected between the connector (204) and the data transfer function controller (213) to power the memory lock system (200).

27. The system as claimed in claim 21 wherein the data transfer function controller (213) includes circuitry for controlling data transfer between a computer (316) and a mass storage module (314).

28. The system as claimed in claim 21 wherein the data transfer function controller (213) includes a circuitry for encrypting and de-encrypting data.

29. The system as claimed in claim 21 further comprising an indicator (210) for indicating the unlock or lock of data transfer in visual, tactile, or audio format.

30. The system as claimed in claim 21 further comprising:

a secure memory system (301) connectable to the data transfer function controller; and

wherein;

the locking function controller includes a combination, and

the manipulatable input device (206) for inputting a combination to match the combination in the locking function controller for controlling the unlocking or locking of data transfer in the secure memory (216) system (301).
