Abstract

Provided are a backlight unit and a liquid crystal display apparatus including the same. The backlight unit comprises: a housing comprising an opening part; a module substrate in the opening part of the housing; a light emitting diode on the module substrate; and a reflection sheet in which the light emitting diode inserted thereto.

Claims

1. A backlight unit comprising:

a housing comprising an opening part;

a module substrate in the opening part of the housing;

a light emitting diode on the module substrate; and

a reflection sheet in which the light emitting diode inserted thereto.

2. The backlight unit according to claim 1, wherein the light emitting diode comprises at least one of a red light emitting diode chip, a green light emitting diode chip, and a blue light emitting diode chip.

3. The backlight unit according to claim 1, wherein the light emitting diode is arranged on the module substrate with at least one column.

4. The backlight unit according to claim 1, comprising a diode insertion hole in the reflection sheet, the diode insertion hole comprising at least one light emitting diode inserted thereto.

5. The backlight unit according to claim 4, wherein a side surface of the diode insertion hole in the reflection sheet gradually widens from the bottom toward the top of the light emitting diode.

6. The backlight unit according to claim 4, wherein the minimum tolerance of a distance between the light emitting diode and the diode insertion hole of the reflection sheet is 0<

tolerance≦

0.1 mm.

7. The backlight unit according to claim 5, wherein a tilt angle of a side surface of the diode insertion hole in the reflection sheet is between 20 and 80°

.

8. The backlight unit according to claim 1, wherein a height of the reflection sheet is 50 to 90% of a height of the light emitting diode.

9. The backlight unit according to claim 1, wherein a diameter of a diode insertion hole at an outer region is different from a diameter of a diode insertion hole at a middle region in the reflection sheet.

10. The backlight unit according to claim 9, wherein the diameter of the diode insertion hole at the middle region is greater than the diameter of the diode insertion hole at the outer region.

11. The backlight unit according to claim 1, comprising a plurality of screws coupling the reflection sheet to one of the housing and the module substrate, the screw having a head portion coated with white color.

12. A backlight unit comprising:

a housing comprising an opening part;

a module substrate in the opening part of the housing;

a light emitting diode on the module substrate;

a reflection sheet in which the light emitting diode on the module substrate inserted thereto; and

a plurality of optical receiving parts on the reflection sheet.

13. The backlight unit according to claim 12, comprising diode insertion holes on the reflection sheet, the diode insertion holes comprising the light emitting diodes inserted thereto and a side surface with a structure having a narrower bottom than a top.

14. The backlight unit according to claim 12, comprising transmission lines on the reflection sheet, the transmission lines transmitting light detected in the optical receiving part into color optical receiving sensors.

15. The backlight unit according to claim 14, wherein the optical receiving part and the transmission line are formed of optical fibers having respectively different sizes.

16. The backlight unit according to claim 12, comprising at least one optical sheet on the light emitting diode and the reflection sheet.

17. A liquid crystal display apparatus comprising:

a liquid crystal panel; and

a light unit below the liquid crystal panel,

wherein the light unit comprises;

a housing comprising an opening part;

a module substrate in the housing;

a light emitting diode on the module substrate; and

a reflection sheet in which the light emitting diode inserted thereto.

18. The liquid crystal display apparatus according to claim 17, wherein the reflection sheet comprises diode insertion holes, the diode insertion holes comprising the light emitting diodes inserted thereto, the light emitting diodes being centered in the middles of the diode insertion holes.

19. The liquid crystal display apparatus according to claim 18, wherein a side surface of the diode insertion hole may be slanted 20 to 80°

outward with reference to a bottom of the reflection sheet, and the minimum tolerance of a distance between a bottom of the diode insertion hole and a bottom of the light emitting diode is below 0.1 mm.

20. The liquid crystal display apparatus according to claim 17, comprising a optical receiving part and a transmission line of an optical fiber on the reflection sheet.
