Abstract

Systems and methods that supply extensibility mechanisms for analysis services, via a plug-in component that enables additional functionalities. The plug-in component provide additional custom logic for the analysis services unified dimensional model (UDM). Accordingly, server functionalities can be extended in an agile manner, and without a requirement for a new release, for example.

Claims

1. A computer implemented system comprising the following computer executable components:

a plug-in component that enables additional functionalities for an analysis services; and

a programmatic interface associated with the analysis services for connection to the plug-in component.

2. The computer implemented system of claim 1, the additional functionalities related to logic customized for a user.

3. The computer implemented system of claim 2, the logic incorporates authentication or authorization or a combination thereof.

4. The computer implemented system of claim 3, the plug-in component creatable by third parties.

5. The computer implemented system of claim 1, the analysis services associated with a performance management application.

6. The computer implemented system of claim 1, the analysis services employs a multidimensional database that stores data in cubes.

7. The computer implemented system of claim 2 further comprising Multi-Dimensional eXpressions (MDX) that generate the logic.

8. The computer implemented system of claim 1, the plug-in component in form of an API, or a vendor product, or a software, or an interface, or a combination thereof.

9. The computer implemented system of claim 1, the plug-in component in form of a common language runtime.

10. A computer implemented method comprising the following computer executable acts:

receiving a plug-in component by an analysis services; and

extending a functionality of the analysis services via the plug-in component.

11. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising creating the plug-in upon a server start up.

12. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising listening to events by the plug-in component.

13. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising personalizing a business logic for a user.

14. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising hosting the plug-in component by the analysis services.

15. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising looking up authentication events by the plug-in component.

16. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising enabling a user connection to the analysis services.

17. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising identifying classes having a predetermined attribute.

18. The computer implemented method of claim 15, the looking up an event further comprising opening a cube and closing the cube.

19. The computer implemented method of claim 17 further comprising iterating through server assemblies.

20. A computer implemented system comprising the following computer executable components:

extending means for enabling additional functionalities for an analysis services; and

means for connecting the extending means to the analysis services.
