Abstract

Operating an integrated development environment in a data processing system comprising running a source code editor, displaying source code in a graphical interface of the source code editor, displaying at least one cross-reference marker, the at least one cross-reference marker indicating crosscutting in the source code, receiving an input, changing one or more cross-reference markers, and highlighting the one or more changed cross-reference marker.

Claims

1. A method of operating a data processing system comprising:

running a source code editor;

displaying source code in a graphical interface of the source code editor;

displaying at least one cross-reference marker, said at least one cross-reference marker indicating crosscutting in the source code;

receiving user input;

changing at least one cross-reference marker in response to receiving the user input; and

highlighting said at least one changed cross-reference marker.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining whether there exists a map of crosscutting in the source code.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

generating a map of crosscutting in the source code.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

responsive to receipt of the user input, determining new crosscutting in the source code.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the source code includes aspects according to an aspect-oriented language, and wherein the at least one cross-reference maker indicates aspect matching.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the changing the at least one cross-reference marker and the highlighting said at least one changed cross-reference marker includes deleting a cross-reference marker and highlighting the deleted cross-reference marker.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the highlighting includes using a symbol indicating whether the at least one changed cross-reference marker is an addition or deletion.

8. A data processing system comprising:

a user interface, a processor for running a source code editor, and a graphical interface for displaying source code of the source code editor, the graphical interface arranged to display at least one cross-reference marker, the at least one cross-reference marker indicating crosscutting in the source code, the user interface arranged to receive a user input, the source code editor arranged to change the at least one cross-reference marker in response to receiving the user input, and the graphical interface arranged to highlight the at least one changed cross-reference marker.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the source code editor is further arranged to determine whether there exists a map of crosscutting in the source code.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the source code editor is further arranged to generate a map of crosscutting in the source code.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein the source code editor is further arranged, responsive to receipt of the user input, to determine new crosscutting in the source code.

12. The system of claim 8, wherein the source code includes aspects according to an aspect-oriented language, and wherein the at least one cross-reference maker indicates aspect matching.

13. The system of claims 8, wherein the graphical interface is further arranged to highlight a deleted cross-reference marker.

14. The system of claim 8, wherein the graphical interface is further arranged so that the highlighting includes using a symbol indicating whether the at least one changed cross-reference marker is an addition or deletion.

15. A computer program product comprising a computer readable medium including computer instructions for operating a data processing system comprising:

computer instructions for running a source code editor, displaying source code in a graphical interface of the source code editor, displaying at least one cross-reference marker, said at least one cross-reference marker indicating crosscutting in the source code, receiving a user input, changing the at least one cross-reference marker in response to receiving the user input, and highlighting said at least one changed cross-reference marker.

16. The computer program product of claim 15, further comprising:

computer instructions for determining whether there exists a map of crosscutting in the source code.

17. The computer program product of claim 15, further comprising computer instructions for generating a map of crosscutting in the source code.

18. The computer program product of claim 15, further comprising computer instructions for, responsive to receipt of the user input, determining new crosscutting in the source code.

19. The computer program product of claims 15, wherein the source code includes aspects according to an aspect-oriented language, and wherein the at least one cross-reference maker indicates aspect matching.

20. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the computer instructions for changing the at least one cross-reference marker and highlighting the at least one changed cross-reference marker include computer instructions for deleting a cross-reference marker and for highlighting the deleted cross-reference marker.
