Abstract

The present invention provides a method for route and resource allocation. One embodiment of the method includes determining at least one network variable associated with a network that includes a plurality of nodes connected by a plurality of links. The network variable(s) are determined based on a plurality of basic loads associated with the plurality of links and a plurality of data rates associated with the plurality of links. The method also includes determining at least one communication variable based on the determined network variable(s) and allocating at least one resource for communication over the network based on the determined network variable(s) and the determined communication variable(s).

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

determining at least one network flow variable associated with a network comprising a plurality of nodes connected by a plurality of links, said at least one network flow variable being determined based on a plurality of basic loads associated with the plurality of links and a plurality of data rates associated with the plurality of links;

determining at least one network communication variable based on said at least one determined network flow variable; and

allocating at least one resource for communication over the network based on said at least one determined network flow variable and said at least one determined network communication variable.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein determining said at least one network flow variable comprises determining at least one route including at least one of the plurality of links.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein determining said at least one network flow variable comprises determining at least one data rate for transmissions over said at least one of the plurality of links.

4. The method of claim 1, comprising determining the plurality of basic loads for the plurality of links.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein determining the plurality of basic loads comprises determining a slack variable for each of the plurality of links based upon a non-convex function and a parameter representative of a selected signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio.

The method of claim 5, wherein determining said at least one network flow variable comprises determining said at least one data rate subject to the constraints that said at least one data rate is less than or equal to the difference between the non-convex function of a measured signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio and the non-convex function of the parameter representative of the selected signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein determining said at least one network communication variable comprises determining at least one of a transmission power per link, a code per link, a spatial resource per link, a frequency resource per link, and a time resource per link.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein allocating said at least one resource comprises allocating at least one route comprising at least one link between a source node and a destination node.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein allocating said at least one resource comprises allocating at least one of a transmission power and a transmission data rate for transmission over said at least one link between the source node and the destination node.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein allocating said at least one resource comprises allocating said at least one resource to at least one of a wireless backhaul link and a wired backhaul link.
