Abstract

An organic light emitting display and a fabricating method thereof, where the display has sub-pixels of various types, which have distinctive shapes formed therein according to type is disclosed. Pixels of a particular type e.g., red, green, or blue, can be identified through visual recognition of the distinctive pattern.

Claims

1. An organic light emitting display, comprising:

a substrate;

an active layer formed on the substrate;

a gate insulating layer formed on the active layer;

a gate electrode formed on the gate insulating layer in a location corresponding to the active layer;

an interlayer dielectric layer formed on the gate electrode;

a source or drain electrode formed on the interlayer dielectric layer and coupled to the active layer;

an insulating layer formed on the source or drain electrode; and

an organic light emitting diode formed on the insulating layer and coupled to the source or drain electrode,

wherein pixels of at least first and second types are formed, and at least one pixel has a distinctive pattern corresponding to the type of the at least one pixel.

2. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 1, wherein the type is at least one of a color, a row, and a column.

3. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 1, wherein the active layer includes a semiconductor layer including a source or drain region and a channel region, and a lower electrode of the capacitor.

4. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 3, wherein the distinctive pattern is formed in the lower electrode of the capacitor.

5. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 4, wherein the lower electrode of the capacitor has a substantially rectangular shape, and the distinctive pattern is formed at least partially along at least one edge of the rectangular shape.

6. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 4, wherein the lower electrode of the capacitor of each pixel has a substantially rectangular shape, and the at least one pixel has the distinctive pattern on an edge corresponding to the type of the at least one pixel.

7. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 4, wherein the distinctive pattern has a shape comprising at least part of at least one of a triangular shape, a tetragonal shape, a pentagonal shape, and a semicircular shape.

8. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 7, wherein the at least one pixel has the distinctive pattern of a shape corresponding to the type of the at least one pixel.

9. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 1, wherein the organic light emitting diode includes an anode, an organic thin film, and a cathode, and the distinctive pattern is formed on the anode.

10. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 9, wherein the anode is formed so that the shape of the anode is substantially rectangular, and the distinctive pattern is formed at a location corresponding to the type of the at least one pixel.

11. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 9, wherein the anode of each pixel has a substantially rectangular shape, and the at least one pixel has the distinctive pattern on an edge corresponding to the type of the at least one pixel.

12. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 9, wherein the distinctive pattern has a shape comprising at least part of at least one of a triangular shape, a tetragonal shape, a pentagonal shape, and a semicircular shape.

13. The organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 12, wherein the at least one pixel has the distinctive pattern of a shape corresponding to the type of the at least one pixel.

14. A fabricating method of an organic light emitting display, the method comprising:

preparing a substrate;

evaporating amorphous silicon on the substrate;

crystallizing the amorphous silicon into poly silicon;

forming an active layer using the poly silicon;

forming an organic light emitting diode coupled to the active layer,

wherein pixels of at least first and second types are formed; and

forming a distinctive pattern in at least one pixel, the distinctive pattern according to the type of the at least one pixel.

15. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 14, wherein the type is at least one of a color, a row, and a column.

16. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 14, wherein forming the active layer includes forming a semiconductor layer and a lower electrode of the capacitor.

17. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 16, wherein forming the lower electrode of the capacitor includes forming the distinctive pattern.

18. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 15, wherein forming the lower electrode of the capacitor comprises:

forming the capacitor with a generally rectangular shape; and

forming the distinctive pattern on at least one edge of the rectangular shape according to the type of the at least one pixel.

19. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 18, wherein forming the lower electrode of the capacitor comprises:

forming the capacitor with a generally rectangular shape; and

forming the distinctive pattern on one edge of the rectangular shape according to the type of the at least one pixel.

20. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 15, wherein the distinctive pattern is formed with a shape comprising at least part of at least one of a triangular shape, a tetragonal shape, a pentagonal shape, and a semicircular shape.

21. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 20, wherein the distinctive pattern is formed in a shape according to the type of the at least one pixel.

22. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 22, wherein forming the organic light emitting diode includes forming an anode of the organic light emitting diode.

23. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 22, wherein forming the anode includes:

forming the anode with a generally rectangular shape; and

forming the distinctive pattern on at least one edge of the rectangular shape according to the type of the at least one pixel.

24. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 22, wherein forming the anode includes:

forming the anode with a generally rectangular shape; and

forming the distinctive pattern on at least one edge of the rectangular shape according to the type of the at least one pixel.

25. The fabricating method of an organic light emitting display as claimed in claim 22, wherein the distinctive pattern is formed with a shape comprising at least part of at least one of a triangular shape, a tetragonal shape, a pentagonal shape, and a semicircular
