Abstract

An orthopedic implant. The implant has a first portion including at least one patient-adjustable feature, and a second portion including at least one standard feature.

Claims

1. An orthopedic implant comprising:

a first portion including at least one patient-adjustable feature; and

a second portion including at least one standard feature.

2. The orthopedic implant of claim 1, wherein the second portion includes an inner surface with at least one standardized dimension.

3. The orthopedic implant of claim 2, wherein the standardized dimension is sized in increments of 3 mm or less.

4. The orthopedic implant of claim 3, wherein the standardized dimension is measured in the anterior-posterior direction.

5. The orthopedic implant of claim 1, wherein the patient-adjustable feature is a medial lateral width.

6. The orthopedic implant of claim 1, wherein the patient-adjustable feature is an orientation of a patella track.

7. The orthopedic implant of claim 1, wherein the patient-adjustable feature is a shape of an anterior flange.

8. The orthopedic implant of claim 1, wherein the patient-adjustable feature is a height of an anterior flange.

9. The orthopedic implant of claim 1, wherein the patient-adjustable feature is a depth of a patella track.

10. The orthopedic implant of claim 1, wherein the patient-adjustable feature is a profile of the implant.

13. The orthopedic implant of claim 1, wherein the standard feature is an inner bone engaging surface of the implant for engagement with standard size bone cuts.

11. The orthopedic implant of claim 11, wherein the implant is a tibial tray.

12. The orthopedic implant of claim 12, wherein the tibial tray includes recesses for receiving a standard size bearing.

14. An orthopedic implant manufacturing method comprising:

preparing a three-dimensional image of a patient'"'"'s joint;

selecting a standard size implant closely matching the joint; and

modifying at least one feature of the implant to be patient-specific.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising overlaying a digital image of a standard size implant on the image of the patient'"'"'s joint.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein the patient-specific feature is a profile of the implant.

17. The method of claim 14, wherein the patient-specific feature is an orientation of a patella track.

18. The method of claim 14, wherein the patient-specific feature is a depth of a patella track.

19. The method of claim 14, further comprising preparing a patient-specific alignment guide for the joint.

20. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

making standard cuts on the joint'"'"'s surface; and

engaging a bone-engaging inner surface of the implant with standard cuts.

21. A manufacturing method for a femoral implant comprising:

preparing a three-dimensional image of a patient'"'"'s joint;

selecting a standard size femoral implant closely matching the joint; and

modifying a plurality of features of the femoral implant to be patient-specific.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein the plurality of features is selected from a group comprising medial-lateral width, orientation of a patellar track, depth of a patellar track shape of an anterior flange, and height of the anterior flange.
