1. A display device comprising:
- a first display unit configured to selectively output one of a composite image and backlight, wherein the composite image comprises a background image and a mask image, for an object, wherein the background image comprises element images for a background excluding the object, and wherein the mask image is a white image which has the same shape as that of the object;
a lens unit configured to convert the composite image into a stereoscopic image or pass through the backlight; and
a second display unit configured to output i) a two-dimensional (2D) image of the object by the use of the backlight at a 2D mode and ii) the combination of the 2D image and the composite image at a three dimensional (3D) mode.
