Abstract

Exemplary system and method embodiments may include real-time monitoring data regarding administration of a health-related procedure to a recipient patient which is posted to a patient data record that has restricted read/write access. In some instances the monitoring data is processed to determine compliance or non-compliance based on comparison of the health-related procedure with a predetermined benchmark standard. Exemplary aspects of the monitoring data transmitted and/or received via one or more communication links may include updated confirmation of a patient identifier and verification of an updated parameter regarding administration of the health-related procedure.

Claims

1. A method for providing updated patient compliance data comprising:

establishing a patient identifier for a particular patient who is scheduled for a designated health-related procedure;

transmitting monitoring data from an administration device via a communication link to a patient data record to verify actual administration of the designated health-related procedure to the particular patient;

correlating the monitoring data with the patient identifier; and

periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data to the patient data record as part of a cumulative summary, wherein the updated real-time monitoring data includes confirmation of the patient identifier as well as an updated time period parameter for one or more health-related procedures that are scheduled, or initiated, or in progress, or completed involving the particular patient.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein said transmitting monitoring data via a communication link includes:

transmitting monitoring data based on empirical information that substantiates compliance or non-compliance with a temporal benchmark standard involving a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure administered to the particular patient.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting the additional real-time monitoring data based on verification of an updated time period parameter generated during one or more of the following time periods;

prior to procedure, at the onset of procedure, during procedure, periodically during procedure, continuously during procedure, upon termination of procedure.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting the additional real-time monitoring data based on updated confirmation of the patient identifier generated during one or more of the following time periods;

prior to procedure, at the onset of procedure, during procedure, periodically during procedure, continuously during procedure, upon termination of procedure.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting a new output of empirical information that includes temporal data regarding the actual administration of a medication substance or neutraceutical substance to the particular patient.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting a new output of empirical information that includes qualitative data regarding the actual administration of a medication substance or neutraceutical substance to the particular patient.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting a new output of empirical information that includes quantitative data regarding the actual administration of a medication substance or neutraceutical substance to the particular patient.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting verification of the updated time period parameter regarding prohibition or avoidance of a certain activity involving the particular patient.

9. The method of claim 8 further comprising:

determining compliance or non-compliance with a temporal benchmark standard regarding the prohibition or avoidance of one of the following type of activities involving the particular patient;

tobacco product usage, alcoholic beverage consumption, addictive substance usage, vehicular driving, machinery operation, allergic exposure, environmental risk.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting verification of the updated time period parameter involving preferred participation by the particular patient in a certain activity.

11. The method of claim 10 further comprising:

determining compliance or non-compliance with a temporal benchmark standard regarding the preferred participation by the particular patient in one of the following type of activities;

specified exercise, sleep routine, healthful diet, wear device, use apparatus, health schedule regimen, take medication, take neutraceutical, check-up appointment, periodic progress review.

15. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data obtained from one or more of the following type of a patient situs;

stationary, ambulatory, hospital, clinic, home, office, vehicle.

16. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data in connection with a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure which includes an external application of a health-related substance to a skin portion of the particular patient.

17. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data in connection with a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure which includes internal delivery of a health-related substance through the skin of the particular patient.

18. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data in connection with a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure which includes delivery of a health-related substance to the particular patient via a body fluid.

19. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data in connection with a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure which includes obtaining for analysis a sample of one or more of the following type of body fluids from the particular patient;

blood, saliva, air, urine.

20. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data in connection with a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure which includes obtaining a health-related substance obtained from one or more of the following;

body fluid, blood, saliva, air, urine, bowel stool, discharge, skin, hair, organ.

22. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data in connection with a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure which includes ingestion of a health-related substance through the mouth of the particular patient.

23. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data in connection with a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure based on delivery of a health-related substance to a targeted body portion or to a body orifice of the particular patient.

24. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data in connection with a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure based on obtaining a health-related substance from a body orifice of the particular patient.

25. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data in connection with a therapeutic procedure or diagnostic procedure or treatment procedure or testing procedure based on obtaining a health-related substance from a targeted body portion of the particular patient.

26. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting a user-activated output of the updated confirmation of the patient identifier.

27. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting an automatic output of the updated confirmation of the patient identifier.

28. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting a user-activated output of empirical information that includes time period data regarding verification of the updated parameter for the one or more health-related procedures.

29. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting an automatic output of empirical information that includes time period data regarding verification of the updated parameter for the one or more health-related procedures.

30. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting a new output that includes time period data generated from a dispenser device for a medication or neutraceutical administered to the particular patient.

33. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting a patient identifier code integral with the updated parameter for the one or more health-related procedures.

34. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting a patient identifier code at a beginning or at an end of a monitoring data stream.

35. The method of claim 1 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of updated real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting a patient identifier code separately from the verification of the updated parameter for the one or more health-related procedures.

36. A patient data system comprising:

an administration device associated with a selected health-related procedure for a designated patient;

one or more data communication links operatively connected through an interface component to the administration device, wherein the one or more communication links are configured to transmit updated information based on real-time monitoring data obtained from the administration device, to a patient data record for the designated patient;

a patient identifier correlated with the selected health-related procedure; and

wherein the interface component is configured for user-activation or automatic activation to transmit real-time monitoring data that includes a time period parameter for the selected health-related procedure involving the designated patient.

37. The system of claim 36 wherein said interface component is configured for obtaining real-time monitoring data that includes updated confirmation of the patient identifier as well as verification of an updated time period parameter for the selected health-related procedure.

38. The system of claim 36 further comprising:

a comparison module operationally coupled with the one or more communication links and configured to determine compliance of the time period parameter with a predetermined benchmark standard.

The system of claim 36 wherein said interface component is configured to obtain real-time monitoring data from the administration device that includes verification of the updated time period parameter regarding one of more of the following types of health-related procedures that are scheduled or initiated, or in progress, or completed:

diagnosis, test, treatment, malady, ailment, surgical procedure, anesthetic, medication, diet, therapy, and nutritional regimen.

40. The system of claim 36 wherein said interface component is configured to obtain real-time monitoring data that includes updated quantitative and/or qualitative output data for the selected health-related procedure involving the designated patient.

The system of claim 36 wherein said interface component is configured to obtain real-time monitoring data from the administration device that includes verification of the updated time period parameter regarding preferred participation in one of more of the following types of health-related procedures that are scheduled, or initiated, or in progress, or completed:

specified exercise, sleep routine, healthful diet, wear device, use apparatus, health schedule regimen, take medication, take neutraceutical, check-up appointment, periodic progress review.

51. The system of claim 36 wherein said interface component is configured to obtain real-time monitoring data from the administration device that includes verification of the updated time period parameter regarding prohibition or avoidance of one of the following type of particular activities:

tobacco product usage, alcoholic beverage consumption, addictive substance usage, vehicular driving, machinery operation, allergic exposure, environmental risk.

52. The system of claim 36 wherein said administration device includes one or more of the following type of operative components:

diagnostic, therapeutic, treatment, test, examination, orthotic, exerciser, timer, sensor, measurement, counter, calculator, dispenser, dosage, substance, food supplement, drug, nutraceutical.

41. A computer program product comprising computer-readable media bearing instructions to implement a method of generating updated patient monitoring data, wherein the method includes:

identifying a recipient patient scheduled for administration of a selected health-related procedure;

obtaining and transmitting real-time monitoring data to a patient data record, wherein the real-time monitoring data includes confirmation of a patient identifier for the recipient patient as well as verification of a time period parameter involving the selected health-related procedure; and

periodically transmitting a new output of additional real-time monitoring data to the patient data record as part of a cumulative summary, wherein the additional real-time monitoring data includes updated confirmation of the patient identifier as well as verification of an updated time period parameter for the selected health-related procedure or for one or more other health-related procedures, which are scheduled or initiated or in progress or completed involving the particular patient.

12. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of additional real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting a new output of empirical information that substantiates compliance or non-compliance with a benchmark standard involving temporal data or qualitative data or quantitative data for the selected health-related procedure involving the particular patient.

21. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of additional real-time monitoring data includes:

transmitting empirical information that includes time period data for an output from a therapy or test or diagnosis or treatment device that interacts with the particular patient.

42. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein the method further includes:

making an evaluation regarding the selected health-related procedure involving the recipient patient to determine compliance with a predetermined temporal benchmark standard.

43. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein the method further includes:

providing accessibility to updated patient compliance records regarding the selected health-related procedure via one or more of the following techniques;

hardcopy view, hardcopy printout, display monitor, remote access, text access, audio access, image access, fax access, hyperlinked access, cross-reference link.

44. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein the method further includes:

verifying the updated time period parameter regarding preferred participation of the particular patient in one of more of the following types of health-related procedures that are scheduled or initiated or in progress or completed;

specified exercise, sleep routine, healthful diet, wear device, use apparatus, health schedule regimen, take medication, take neutraceutical, check-up appointment, periodic progress review.

45. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein the method further includes:

verifying the updated time period parameter regarding prohibition or avoidance by the particular patient of one of the following type of particular activities;

tobacco product usage, alcoholic beverage consumption, addictive substance usage, vehicular driving, machinery operation, allergic exposure, environmental risk.

46. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of additional real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting a user-activated output of the updated confirmation of the patient identifier.

47. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of additional real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting an automatic output of the updated confirmation of the patient identifier.

48. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of additional real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting a user-activated output of the verification of the updated time period parameter.

49. The computer program product of claim 41 wherein said periodically transmitting a new output of additional real-time monitoring data includes:

periodically transmitting an automatic output of the verification of the updated time period parameter.
